Camera Chin Mounts - Gone in 60 - 01-04-2023 I run a camera on my helmets for commuting and my burgeoning YouTube efforts. I had looked for ready-made mounts for some of my helmets, but there wasn't much out there for the models I own, so I started making my own mounts: http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=16320 However, looking for something else, the chin mount website came up, and wow, they have really stepped up their helmet model offerings: https://chinmounts.com/ They're 3D printed, and maybe $35 sounds like a bit much, but compared to the effort of custom-molding JB Weld epoxy, it's pretty tempting for my next lid! Now my goto convenience is: [url=https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32920903425.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.162.21ef1802kG31Fh] Quality, value and practicality is excellent as well as audio capture. RE: Camera Chin Mounts - pekingduck - 01-04-2023 I see the chin mounts apply with an adhesive tape, something I'm always a little leery about. I know most helmet-top mounts do too, but mounted on the chin means it whips around more. I'd be happier with a little tether for the mount, just in case, even just a zip tie. Has anyone ever had a helmet camera come loose? I've used 3M VHB (grey) foam tape on GoPro mounts and never ever came close to a mount dislodge on any surface, including lids. Of course, proper surface preparation is paramount. The front strap (2) mount like in the previous post above does not budge or sway and unhooks/hooks very quickly. Very sturdy mount design. RE: Camera Chin Mounts - Gone in 60 - 01-04-2023 I’ve had 3M VHB hold just fine on my GoPro mounts, whether they’re on a helmet or a race car. If it sticks at race speeds, it’ll stick to my helmet at riding speeds. RE: Camera Chin Mounts - KiowaEagle_imp - 01-05-2023 Wow! Great find Gone! Thanks for sharing. |
