Planning an extended ride / First Time - B166er_imp - 06-25-2014 So, I'm thinking from Kansas City towards the SE corner of MO, down the eastern side of arkansas, through Mississippi, Louisiana to the southern most areas, across the south, back up the western side of Louisiana, TX, maybe to Austin and whatever way back to KC. Probably alone. Light, light on gear. Might gear up one of my medium format cameras. To this day, a day trip of 400 miles is the most I've done. I'd like to completely stay off the big roads. Maybe I shouldn't over think it but I have no idea how to plan something like this. Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk Any advice? Seriously I would pick a point maybe 500 miles from home for a first ride, realizing that will force you to endure hours on the road, 1 or 2 days in a hotel, maybe 4 meals out on the road, maybe some low fuel tank stress, maybe some bad weather. if you find you can handle that well, plan your multi state, multi day trip knowing you wont mentally give in after a few days Planning an extended ride / First Time - Ridem32_imp - 06-25-2014 B166er let me know if you do I can meet you in ark. La. Or ms. And ride a few states with ya.
RE: Planning an extended ride / First Time - B166er_imp - 06-25-2014 Ferret... couldn't agree more. I'm sure I'll take a day trip or two. Especially to test out any new gear. Probably a 2 or 3 day trip to who knows where. Also, I have very little pride. I won't shy away from turning around and/or shipping that sucker back home. Ridem! I certainly will! I hope to find (or make) a riding buddy soon. Strength in numbers. If anything, meeting someone along the way would be great.
