Happy Moment - Guth_imp - 07-04-2014 My family and I were invited to a friend's place out in the country for their now annual Fourth of July bike bash. Basically just a bunch of folks having a good time riding a bunch of bikes around in the dirt. Riding dirt bikes is generally fun, and today was no exception. However, I barely spent any time on a bike. Instead I watched my son get his first taste of motorcycling. I could easily see his grin stretch from ear to ear underneath the borrowed helmet that he was wearing. He learned to work a clutch for the first time ever as well as how to shift gears (which will come in handy when he begins learning to drive my car later this year). There was an accidental wheelie, but no crashes, so his mom was happy. I knew when he asked if it would be alright for him to ride the bike again later on in the afternoon that he had really enjoyed the experience. As my son was circling around us, my friend commented that as a kid, that first experience on a motorcycle was one of the greatest feelings in the world. I agreed — in many ways, it still is. But watching my son experience that feeling for the first time was something altogether new and exciting in it's own special way. Good stuff!
RE: Happy Moment - Pterodactyl_imp - 07-04-2014 Fantastic Guth. This is my daughter at exactly that moment (old photo). I let her loose in a lucerne paddock to make sure she didn't do too much damage to herself or the bike. Nearly broke her face grinning. [/img] Cheers, and may there be many more happy moments, for us all. By the way, she's a natural. Smiling for the camera while on the move. RE: Happy Moment - Cormanus - 07-04-2014 Great shots both of you. RE: Happy Moment - the Ferret - 07-04-2014 Watershed moments...for both of you. Very cool. Happy Moment - Gustav_imp - 07-04-2014 Glad to read this. When I was 15 years old my father told me like you did. how to ride a motorbike. I will never forget this events and the emotions I felt. Regards Gustav Happy Moment - Elipten_imp - 07-04-2014 Very good stuff, hope my son is the same in 3 years. His mother will never allow, so the boys will have to sneak. Now imagine Freddie Spencer started when he was 3 or 5 years old as I recall.
