Rear brake squeal - B-rad G_imp - 07-19-2018
Late last summer my '13 developed a rear brake squeal that got to be pretty annoying. During the winter I asked my local dealership to fix it. They claimed there was some sort of sticky substance on the pad and ground some of it down. I got the bike back and the squeal was gone. Now it's returned.
Has anyone had this issue? Any suggestions?

Have the pads glazed from heat?
If so, remove pads, lightly break the glaze with emery cloth on a flat surface.

My 2107 CB1100 Ex had a dragging rear brake right from the start. I could feel it when turned the rear wheel to wax the chain. The dealer told me to use the back brake more. I seldom do because I down shift to slow down and use the front brakes to stop. My feet are for holding the bike when I stop.
As time went on the disc discoloured. They said I must be riding with my foot on the brake. I showed that them that was not the case as being pigeon toed would be an uncomfortable riding position. Honda Canada had them replace the disk and pads.
The rear brake was useless when I got my bike back. Obviously they did not bleed the brake properly. Still drags but not enough to discolour the disk. Seems to be improving the more I use it.
Front brakes squealed from the start every time I stopped. They told me it would take some time for the brake pads to bed in. A year later they still squeal.
My budget priced CB500XA never had these problems the 3 years I road it. I hate to waste my time working on an new expensive motorcycle when I should be riding. So I may look around for a dealer with a more competent service staff. Or mess with the thing myself.
