2017 Honda CB1100EX, still top speed / rev-limited? - DaSwami_imp - 02-04-2018

Just like the subject line says, does anyone know if the 2017 Honda still has the ECU governor for the top speed and rev limiter in the three gears like the 2013-14 models do?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure they are. The new 2018 Goldwing is speed limited to 112mph/180 kph

So is that all the new Hondas??

Definitely not. The CBR1000RR is not limited to 112 mph, nor is the CBR600RR. I'm sure there other models that aren't, as well.

Well, that stinks if the new model CB is also limited, I mean why do it really? Any shots of speed above 112 mph are most likely to be brief, just for the fun of it

If you mean the EX, yes, it's limited to 112 mph. If you mean the new CB1000R, nope, that one won't be limited.

Seriously? You really need to go faster than 112 mph? If so, look elsewhere, the CB1100 is not for you.
I have/had fast bikes. I've seen 150+. But the CB1100 puts a smile on my face at posted speed limit velocities, thank you very much.
If you want the CB1100 to go faster, then you don't really understand the CB1100.

Oh for crying out loud, I don't need to go faster than 112mph, but sometimes I want to, even for literally just one minute, and maybe just once a month, or once a year....

I already own a CB1100 2014 model, and I understand it perfectly well, thank you very much.

It's the concept of limiting a bikes revs/top speed "electronically" rather than letting it play out "mechanically" that bothers me.

Otay?

Although I've never approached the built in limits set by Honda, I would prefer that those limits were set by my right wrist.

Can we please cut the "if ____ then you should have bought another bike" crap on this site. I've heard it from the beginning here. People want to do what they want to do on any given bike. I/we don't need gov't nannies telling us what is best for US! If I wanna do burnouts on the CB, guess what? It's the bike for me. If I wanna do 120mph, guess what? It's the bike for me. If I wanna obey all speed limits and toddle around all day, guess what? It's the bike for me. Implying that people don't understand something because they choose to use it differently from you is folly. The CB is VERY capable of being pushed, and as I have come to realize in the past year, it is fun to do so and it takes a flogging and will ask for more. I'm happy to have it in my garage.

Rant over.Thumbs Up
