arrivederci - The Gecko_imp - 04-05-2025 The CB has been sold, for now riding continues on a Kawasaki z900. She is not as pretty, but much lighter, with better "legs" - easier to control in steep descents, and the bike has a great sound from factory. A good bike for a girl my size and strength. Not all of your comments to my posts (or PMs) have always been tenderhearted, but hey, have been there, have brothers, can handle it. But it wasn't enough to make me think, "I should keep the CB in order to remain a member of this group or this forum". The light in this darkness was Cormanus, and a few others from more "distant" places for away from the "heart"-lands of U.S. American reality. In fact for the first time in my life I (and brothers) am thinking about leaving the U.S. for good, after 6 generations here in AL. It has become a frequent subject at dinner tables. The recent events have shown me and many other scientists, that this country is going ... downhill, if not completely nuts. And the tunnel to the place where one can see the light ... seems to go in a death spiral. In a few months my family will know if we follow a call to Europe. In 1940-1950 scientist went from Europe to the Americas. In 2025+ this movement to be reversed ? What would the U.S. look like if stripped of science and scientists I do seriously hope that this post gets not deleted in an attempt to keep politics off the forum. What I say here is not political (your responses might be so). What I say is an expression of total darkness I feel around me. Luckily I have a Kawa ... great joy every day, and brothers, and ... Goodby(e) RE: arrivederci - Lord Popgun - 04-05-2025 Gonna miss you Gecko. Always liked your contributions here. Enjoy your new bike and new life if you move to Europe. RE: arrivederci - the Ferret - 04-05-2025 Shame you are leaving us Gecko. You were a worthy contributor. Unfortunately, I did have to moderate your post a bit as even though you say it wasn't political, it was, and we don't allow that here. I only removed one sentence though and left the flavor of your post intact. I must say I am confused though. I have read every post here for the last 13 years since that has been my job (which I take very seriously as per my upbringing, even though it pays nothing), and in fact went back and read a ton of your threads this morning after reading this post and never found any posts treating you badly. Maybe I missed some? If I did I apologize. It is not in my nature to allow someone to be mistreated on this forum. Those that do mistreat others I first warn, then if they continue, I ban. In any case, I thank you for your participation here, and hope you find true happiness whether that is on another motorcycle brand, another forum or in another country. We all deserve happiness. A shame to see you both sell your CB and leave the forum. Keep in mind there are many here who no longer have their CB1100 but still regularly visit and contribute. It would be nice if you did the same! Either way, good luck with wherever your path leads you. RE: arrivederci - Cormanus - 04-06-2025 Ah, Gecko, I'm sorry you're leaving us. You'll be missed. As Whoops said, there is no need to leave the forum just because you've sold the CB1100. We like people who like bikes. Like the Ferret, I'm sorry if you feel you've been mistreated. I'm with him believing we've both done our best to discourage and act on disrespectful behaviour here. Should you decide not to visit again, very best wishes for your new bike and whatever your future holds. RE: arrivederci - Frulk_imp - 04-06-2025 It’s all about perspective…you know, that whole grass in greener thing. As someone who emigrated to the USA. Learned the language and became a citizen I wish you well. RE: arrivederci - Gone in 60 - 04-06-2025 Good luck and hope the future brings all you want it to, Gecko! Sorta jealous about that Z900. Always wanted to try one of those. |
