Vintage motorcycle parts-where to search - Razor - 03-18-2019
Where do you get your parts for vintage restorations?
Below are some random thoughts, opinions and places I’ve used over the years.
(not affiliated or endorsing any of the businesses)
Please chime if you have other suggestions or information.
Restoring vintage bikes can be challenging when searching for that “one part”.
Partzilla
Business based in the USA. Good to deal with. Has very good prices, but they only have what is still available from Honda.

David Silver Spares
This company is based in the UK, but has a hub in the USA. Very good prices and good people to deal with. If calling to ask questions; keep in mind their time zone.

CMSNL or CMS
This company is in the Nederlands (Amsterdam). Good people to deal with, but can be pricey. They specialize in vintage motorcycles and their inventory is probably the best I’ve seen. It will fluctuate, so check back if you don’t see what you need. Be sure to factor in shipping, as it can be a bit on the high side.
Also, their prices are in Euro (no problem); just need to do the exchange rate.

Honda Restorations
Steve, at Honda Restorations is very good to deal with. His inventory is limited, but sometimes will have what you’re looking for. Good prices and excellent service. He’s “hooked up” with CMSNL (above link), so if he doesn’t have the part; there’ll be a link to the CMSNL site.

Things to consider when searching for vintage parts.
- know your part numbers. Many parts will be shared with various models & years.
- when doing searches by name(s) and/or descriptions; keep in mind parts can have different names, in different countries.
Everyone has their way of refining searches. The longer/more detailed your description; the fewer hits you’ll get. Using shorter descriptions will get more “hits”, but will consume more time.

Nice start Razor. I have no vintage machines, however, I have always wondered how the others fare while doing the job. I like following their labour of love. Hard to imagine what it was like 30 years ago.

As much as I hate to say it sometimes Ebay is the only place you're going to find something. That being said it's usually the last resort for me.

I agree; Ebay is a good source. I’ve gotten plenty of parts there. It doesn’t hurt to ask questions to clarify.

I have a stack of vintage bikes, most 2 stroke, and theres plenty of sources if you aer wiling to dig just a bit.
service parts also partsnmore.com , diablo cycles (especially for decals as they use dot be 'reproduction decals' ). For RD stuff, economycycle, and HVC if you want to spend 30% more for everything. lol. NOS stuff, look at speed and sport in PA. Pricey as hell, but NOS stuff all over the place.
I’ve heard of Speed and Sport, will need to check them out. Thanks!

In addition to my CB, I ride a CL77 scrambler and a CB750. The scrambler is a 1967 model and the 750 is 1974 vintage. Both bikes are runners. Original and unrestored. I do use eBay. I have also order parts from 4 into 1, Western Hills Honda in Ohio and other forums I'm on, there is always a "for sale" or "wanted" parts category. What really helps is having the specific part number you're looking for will make it easier. Hope this helps.
