"If a person is found guilty of three hoon-related offences inside three years, their vehicle can be permanently forfeited by the court. Upon such a court order being granted, these vehicles can then be disposed of in a manner determined by the Chief Commissioner of Police. If the forfeited vehicle is sold by the State of Victoria, the proceeds from the sale will be retained by the State of Victoria. Alternatively, the vehicle may be crushed or otherwise disposed of by police. In addition to the seizure or forfeiture of the vehicle, if found guilty of a hoon driving offence, the courts can impose a fine of up to 240 penalty units (in excess of $28,000) and/or a period of imprisonment of up to two years. The driver will also incur any demerit points and/or licence loss penalties applying to the underlying offence." I read in the newspaper that more than 100 vehicles get crushed every month, the article did not mention what percentage were motorcycles. Regards RE: Mobs of Stunting Squids - LongRanger_imp - 10-03-2019 I occasionally see those same hordes on the freeways around here. Makes me embarrassed to ride motorcycles. RE: Mobs of Stunting Squids - GoldOxide_imp - 10-03-2019 Toronto had a few instances over the past years. They really control the road when they swarm. So far, authorities could do nothing about it and other traffic had to yield. So far I don't think anyone has been hurt, but that does not make it right. I recall a video of a hooligan swarm over-running a "normal" m/c rider. The "normal" rider minded their own business and maintained their journey trajectory in the swarm as the others clowned about. RE: Mobs of Stunting Squids - Gone in 60 - 10-04-2019 I was in San Francisco picking up a rental bike last year, and hundreds of cars and bikes staged a "takeover" of the Fisherman's Wharf area. Burnouts, donuts, loud music, and very dangerous driving and riding with tourists lining the sidewalks with their phones. It was very curious to see the police standing to the side, not taking any action. Not sure if they felt there were too many of them to try to corral, or if they just decided that these guys had some sort of personal freedom to be able to potentially cause a ton of damage and injury. I left the area just to get away from the noise. RE: Mobs of Stunting Squids - the Ferret - 10-04-2019 hmmm doesn't MTC ride on Lakeshore Dr? |
