Triumph bonneville speed master - Obleo - 08-19-2020

Anyone have insights or experiences with the speed master ? Been looking for a more relaxed riding position.

My wife has one. Great bike. My wife finds it very comfortable. She's about 5'6" so we just got 1" 'up and over' risers for the handlebar. Others have swapped out the stock beach bars for the bars that come with the Bobber version. At 6'1", I find it a little cramped and low, but I don't ride it much, so maybe I'd get used to that. She also has the Highway option package which includes a gigantic windscreen which she loves, but I would not.

Bike gets similar miles/tank as the 2013 CB1100. Has a lot of cool features, including ABS and cruise control. You can go with mid-controls, but I guess that would defeat your desire for a more relaxed riding position. She did not like the mid-control setup anyway.

Don't by the stock saddlebags if you want to maximize stowage for long trips. Viking bags seems to be the brand of choice among Speedy riders on Facebook.

Thanks guys I ll be looking into the speed master further, sad thing our local Triumph dealer dropped the line about 3 years ago.Have to go to Chattanooga or New Orleans for a test ride not very convenient . Every write up looks to be positive .

I have one.

It's a beautiful motorcycle. The 1200 engine is brilliant, and it makes a wonderful sound. Very easy to ride - the same weight as a CB1100, but a lower centre of gravity. I have done about 5,000 miles on it, including long trips.

I bought the stock panniers - as Empty Sea notes, they are not large, but I add a couple of Kriega backs in needed. I also have the beach bars, which I like.

It will tour, easily, but it's not a two up bike in my opinion - the passenger seat is too small. Not a problem for me, as I ride solo.

I love it - I can't think of anything about it I would change.

While my Bonneville was in for repairs a few months ago, a few new Speedmasters on the showroom floor caught my eye. I really like the look of that bike. I'm thinking that when the time comes to replace the Bonnie, I might pick one up.

Looked at the specs. Power seems kind of light for a 1200.

They look really really nice- a lot of the Triumph do.... but too many compromise for me.

I wouldn't mind a bobber for a local hangout bike...but not a rider.

You should be used to that riding an under-powered 1100.
