Kawasaki to go all electric by 2035 - Whoops - 10-13-2021 https://electrek.co/2021/10/11/kawasaki-announces-its-motorcycles-to-go-all-electric-by-2035/ RE: Kawasaki to go all electric by 2035 - misterprofessionality - 10-13-2021 I dont believe it for a second. They'll still have 7 bikes on the roster using the Ninja 650 motor. RE: Kawasaki to go all electric by 2035 - clearviewx - 10-13-2021 All they are doing is creating another waste with these batteries that commerce doesn’t know how to deal with! Kawasaki to go all electric by 2035 - tod.branko_imp - 10-13-2021 I'm not buying this for a moment. Unless some of these countries ban sales of new ICE, which leaves them without a choice. But I'm not taking this article seriously because there is no quote of reference, it's hearsay '14 CB1100 STD 5 speed RE: Kawasaki to go all electric by 2035 - Whoops - 10-13-2021 (10-13-2021, 11:57 AM)tod.branko_imp Wrote: I'm not buying this for a moment. Few of them reference the source, but this news comes from the latest Kawasaki Business Policy Briefing recently released by Kawasaki. You can find that briefing here. It's an interesting read, something of a political campaign promises type of a document, some real stuff, some virtue signaling, but all in all set the necessary goals and vision for future. Page 16 in this specific case it doesn't state going "all electric". It says BEV/HEV with all "major models for developed countries". Keywords "HEV" - Hybrid Electric Vehicles, which by definition include an ICE. And "major" - meaning in this context - not all. So things get taken out of context for journalistic sensationalism. They also say they will introduce "at least 10 models by 2025, which is a short 4 years away, an depending on those, imo, we will have a better indication of feasibility of going electric with all major models by 2035. When you hear a company peddling a line like this “Build a business that's about selling happiness, not things”, you know that the message is more marketing than substance. RE: Kawasaki to go all electric by 2035 - GoldOxide_imp - 10-13-2021 Honda already has available the PCX150 Hybrid scooter. Not available in North American yet, but they appear to be executing on their "electric road map" ... RE: Kawasaki to go all electric by 2035 - misterprofessionality - 10-13-2021 oof...hybrid? that doesn't seem practical for motorcycles. i mean, it was an effective stopgap for the auto industry as we all wait for viable electric cars, but I can see a kind of "malaise" era for gas motorcycles coming onto the horizon. The thing that gets me onto electric bikes may simply be the lack of any good gas bikes on the market, just as the malaise era of american autos drove people into smaller japanese cars. |
