Distracted drivers - Cormanus - 08-03-2023 In another thread, Chapomis mentioned he’d given up riding due to the number of distracted drivers in his area. It reminded me of this piece I read yesterday on ADVRider. Food for thought for us all, https://www.advrider.com/what-are-you-looking-at/ RE: Distracted drivers - Gone in 60 - 08-03-2023 It's a fact that we all have to be aware of. I don't think I've ever used the horns on my bikes in anger, but I do use them regularly when the light turns green and the guy in front of me is too glued to his phone to notice. RE: Distracted drivers - Cormanus - 08-03-2023 The important takeouts for me we’re that it’s not just phones. It’s food, drinks, kids, anything that takes your attention from the road. And that we motorcyclists are vulnerable too. RE: Distracted drivers - GoldOxide_imp - 08-03-2023 The continuous awareness is a part of my everyday riding (and driving!) fabric. RE: Distracted drivers - Gone in 60 - 08-03-2023 And don't forget farding. RE: Distracted drivers - Nachodaddy - 08-03-2023 (08-03-2023, 08:08 AM)Gone in 60_imp Wrote: And don't forget farding. Had to look that one up. Definitely not what I thought it would be. Never too old to expand my vocabulary. RE: Distracted drivers - GoldOxide_imp - 08-03-2023 ... wow, you learned me sumthin' today. RE: Distracted drivers - misterprofessionality - 08-03-2023 Not two months ago I experienced the ultimate vindication/schadenfreude with regards to a distracted driver. A lady in a dodge caravan changed lanes into the space I was physically occupying next to her without looking and forced me to pull forward suddenly to get out of the way. When I looked in my mirror to give her the typical stink eye and rude gestures, I saw blue lights behind her....Turns out there had been an unmarked police tahoe right behind her when she pulled this move and he decided to immediately pull her over when he saw her try to push me out of the lane. When I tell you how delicious it felt watching those blue lights fade into the background in my mirrors.....hoo boy.
