Hillclimb - tod.branko_imp - 07-20-2021 The end of today's route was at a nearby mountain called Jebel Yibir. The road up the last peak was originally intended for military use at the top there is some sort of a secret military compound and access is restricted and guarded. It is very dangerous for motorcycles as the road is rutted and washed off at places as an addition to being extremely steep and winding. As you will be able to see there is gravel on hairpins and parts of the road are collapsed. Still, it's a favorite spot for many of us as the road leading to Yibir is quite scenic and technical. I decided to shoot the last climb, I've also given the guys in front a few minutes of space so not to catch up too early. Enjoy the ride https://youtu.be/Hs7euTXiw7U ![]() '14 CB1100 STD 5 speed RE: Hillclimb - Cormanus - 07-20-2021 Great hill. Those views and wide open spaces are a 180 degrees different than my local mountain rides where it's nearly all forest and you mostly just ride through a sea of trees. Construction signs? What signs? Maybe the odd sun faded and wind torn orange flag back a few hundred feet? In some cases the tires would sink into the gravel if a certain speed was not maintained. Add to that lane splitting in these turns, otherwise you'll end up somewhere where you don't want to be. In any case, understood. Situations can raise the hair on the back of the neck. I've been to many a road in this condition in southeast Europe, nothing as steep though I actually had the sport cam on during the crazy ordeal, but disappointingly discovered later that the dang battery had died. (no USB charge port was available) In the end it was exhilarating. But it could have ended easily the other way around. |
