Shoei J-Cruise in Wine Red.. - HikerToo_imp - 06-12-2013

Just unpacked this J-Cruise this afternoon, Shoei fits me good, I like the darkened glare shield that comes down or up as needed for bright sunshine, keeps me from having to wear sunglasses or swap shields out. Matches the tank nicely too.
I think wearing a full open face helmet with no shield and only glasses is "OK" on slower real hot days, but the direct wind in my face was distracting and left my skin vulnerable to flying debris.

Yea, there's nothing like a junebug to the cheek at 60mph to make a body get a face shield. Big Grin

I just bought the same helmet, same color to replace my Shoei St. Cruz, and I'm loving it so far. Matches my Candy Antares Red '76 CB750. Who say's men can't accessorize!? Wink How is yours holding up after a few months?

The J-Cruise is still my primary warm weather helmet, usually below 75 degrees and I go with my Shoei GT Air for more protection, less wind and quieter ride.
The J-Cruise itself and screen still look like new, for the screen I put a wet cloth( t-shirt) on for 10 or 15 minutes and the bugs come right off, than dry with a micro-fiber cloth.
I swapped out the cheek pads for the size 39mm which gives me a tighter fit, I had tried the thicker top interior bit it was too small.
I think the thing I dislike the most on the J-Cruise, is wind noise when the shield is shut all the way around the top edge, I actually have less wind howl when I keep it open to the first notch, which is OK for speeds under 45mph.
I LOVE the dark drop down visor so much it was the main criteria for my full face when I bought it.
So for everything but wind noise I still find it to be my best warm weather helmet( sold my open face and modular weeks ago).

Is Shoei putting removable, washable liners in their helmets these days? The last one I had didn't have that feature, and with the heat/sweat of Florida riding, it's pretty much required.

I believe so, last 4 I bought this summer did.

I thought wind noise reduction was pretty good but then again I'm coming from the Shoei St. Cruz which is basically a half-helmet. Did you apply the silicone oil that came with the helmet to the top of the shield weather strip?

I have sealed shield openings which I have found to whistle depending on head angle with piece of self stick velcro..the soft side. Just cut a piece or strip maybe 3/8 " wide, lift shield and stick it on just above the rubber strip.
