I cracked my tibia 4 weeks ago and finally got to ride Saturday Smile
I was actually surprised how it fired off instantly, like she was run the day before. NICE Big Grin

Thank EFI for that. My little 350F clogged her jets ASAP (especially nasty issue in hot climes in the summer).

Damn dirt bikes, I actually fractured the tibia plateau with takes 3 months to heal instead of the standard 6 weeks.
My foot was knocked off the peg and snapped my leg back to far. Some how that shattered the top of the bone? I had a previous ACL repair in the same knee which made it OK. I saw the Doc today and he said surgury is not needed. I thought I retore it for sure? I ache all over from dirt bike crashes, they are to much fun to stop.

I thought a XR650L was good dirt bike. Compared to a Moto Guzzi Quota it is! If I'm to learn dirt a 125 or 250 makes more sense. Smile I'm barely getting dirty but dirt bikes are a whole 'nother world and a hoot! But as I get older, they are not so advised. Tongue

Hang in there sir. Eat well, exercise some way to keep the heart in good shape and you'll heal up just fine.

Dirt bike riding is only for the young or very tough lol

The best way to learn how to ride a motorcycle is on a dirtbike off-road (I did when I was 18 on my 1st bike a Kawi 175 enduro). I've been riding street ever since on dozens of incredible street bikes. In the past year my riding crowd has gravitated to some serious off-road street legal enduros, so I wanted in on the fun and picked up a Suzuki DRZ400E and its the best move I've done in years. Riding dirt is serious skill-building, challenging and FUN! Riding in the Berkshire Mountains in an organized enduro for a weekend this Spring got me hooked. You gotta be in shape and on your A-game and enjoy getting muddy, and take get-offs in stride. Just don't show off and its not as unsafe as you might think. And I'm 56 years old.

I agree wholeheartedly that dirt bike riding enhances street bike riding. I recommend it as great training for street survival skills. I spent 10 years racing motocross, and hare scrambles and a couple enduros.... 30-40 years ago lol ( started racing in 1973) This also included 10 years of high speed get offs and resultant broken bones. A gentle ride on the dirt I could still handle although I might get sore. I would not want to attempt high speed slides, bouncing off berms, jumps, whoop de doos, or bouncing off trees, or wheelie ing over backwards.... Too old and I don't heal like I used to.

But yes riding dirt makes you a better street rider, and riding street makes you a better dirt rider.

These cold mornings, I wish I'd never seen a dirt bike.
I started crashing at 8 years old on a Z50. It's been all casts and chruches ever since.
I will say my 2000 CR500 is still my favorite of all time, just no getting use to the power. She did the most damage but I still love her. A constant handfull all the time, she loved to throw you off her back. Made riding the 250 2 strokes & 450 4 strokes seem like mopeds. We called her the Widow-maker Big Grin On the ice, nothing could touch it, except a snowmobile above 85 mph.

Oh gawd! a two stroke 500! I remember back in the day the 250R was a handful. A 500 would send me straight to daisy fertilizer.
