Cotton Country Ride - redbirds_imp - 11-30-2014 Weather was too beautiful today to stay home and work so we did an 80 mile ride through the local farm country. Everything has turned to brown and gray with the colder temperatures but the cotton harvest is in full swing. We rode past thousands of acres of cotton fields most having large bales ready for transport on flatbeds or bundled into elongated modules for pickup by trucks designed for no other purpose called "Module getters", says so right on the cabs. High of about 70F and perfect blue skies. ![]()
RE: Cotton Country Ride - Pterodactyl_imp - 11-30-2014 G'day Redbirds, looks like the perfect day for a ride. There'd be a lot of T-shirts in just one of those bales. Bike looks good. Cheers RE: Cotton Country Ride - redbirds_imp - 11-30-2014 Thanks Ptero. We are looking forward to meeting our Aussie friends at the May gathering in the mountains. Cheers! RE: Cotton Country Ride - ss2wheels_imp - 11-30-2014 Hey Redbirds, are we southerners blessed or what!I too was able to bust out 90 miles on my DLX today,it was gorgeous wasn't it.I cant wait to meet all you folks in May.

About 70 degrees RE: Cotton Country Ride - redbirds_imp - 11-30-2014 (11-30-2014, 09:28 AM)ss2wheels_imp Wrote: Hey Redbirds, are we southerners blessed or what!I too was able to bust out 90 miles on my DLX today,it was gorgeous wasn't it.I cant wait to meet all you folks in May. Indeed, we are blessed with some great winter weather. May in the Smokies. It'll be a blast. RE: Cotton Country Ride - metallyguitarded_imp - 11-30-2014 Great photos redbirds! Am I revealing too much if I admit that the first thing that came to mind was giant sushi rolls? RE: Cotton Country Ride - emptysea - 11-30-2014 Imagine the chopsticks! Great pictures. we don't get to see cotton bales up here, but there is something otherworldly about them and about the hay and wheat bales in an otherwise barren field at harvest time. Thanks for sharing. RE: Cotton Country Ride - Rick Froscheiser_imp - 11-30-2014 Kool thanks for sharing your ride and pictures with us. RE: Cotton Country Ride - the Ferret - 11-30-2014 70 sounds great! Sometimes I think I'd like to live where it's warm all the time, but those places seem to have either tornados or earthquakes, poisonous snakes, lots of bugs, mosquitos or lots and lots of people congested together...things that also like warm weather. |
