Long Tan day. - Pterodactyl_imp - 08-17-2015

In the thread "What Did You Do To Your CB Today" I made [url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=3268&pid=102590#pid102590]this post. Well last Saturday I made the trip to Murrurundi and camped at the VVMC property near there. I won't go into detail on the roads as both the Putty Road and the Bylong Valley Way, both favourite rides for me, I have described in other threads. If you are interested, [url=https://goo.gl/maps/l3tZF]here is the route. With some sightseeing on the way a little over 800kms.

The VVMC (Vietnam Veterans MC) property is named FSB Pearlbrook. FSB, for those who may not recognise the acronym, stands for Fire Support Base. It lies at the end of about 5kms of dirt road, by a creek, in a well grassed clearing. Surrounded by hills it is a snapshot of the Australian bush. Good camping on soft grass. The clubhouse and facilities are extensive and carefully maintained. Almost military.

I arrived around 3:00 pm and the memorial service, lasting 45mins or so, began at 3:30. A small Catafalque Party was provided by the D Coy, Royal New South Wales Regiment. The service was moving, remembering the lost from all countries in that war of long ago. Both friend and foe.

For me this ride was all about the destination not the journey.

Cheers

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."

Touching Ptero. Glad you were able to attend, and glad you were able to come home so long ago.
