Blue Ridge Parkway - MikeD_imp - 09-21-2015

I finally got out on the Parkway for a short ride yesterday. -great temp, just a little overcast...The only time I was even a little warm was at a stop light on the way back home. The colors are just starting to change. I saw more motorcycles than cars, but that will probably change quickly as the fall tourists start showing up.
I had to cut the ride short, unfortunately. I started feeling a little vibration in the bars, looked down, and saw that one of the bar ends was coming out of the left side of the handlebar! I pulled over and pushed it back in, but it's still loose. The previous owner replaced the bars with lower ones, which I like, but I now suspect that they don't have the holes for the retainer that holds the bar end in. Looks like I'm going to have to replace the lower bars with something else, or go back to the stock bars. Oh well. It was still a great time. It wasn't until I got home that I realized I didn't take any photos. -next time

BRP is a great ride and so are all the side roads that go somewhere else. Love the region.Bumper to bumper traffic next 6 weeks. Leaf season is very crowded with cars actually outnumbering motorcycles for a change - all are welcome, on a busy weekend I detour on side roads for 15 or 20 minutes just to pass under the parkway so I can get anywhere.
Some people will complain about anything.

Lucky man. Please post photos when the colour develops. I am sure it will be a spectacular backdrop for your CB

Cheers

Last time I road on the BRP I got a very nice 63 mpg. I real plus, and that on top of all the other fine points of riding of the parkway.

Group of 8 or 10 of us will be in the vicinity next week. riding 129, Cherohala, Richard Russell, all the good stuff. Still rather early for the leave changers, though they'll be there soon enough. Taking the Yamaha this time, one last 2500 mile, no interstate tour on it. I have it sold when I return to FL. Will be showing 74k, so far all trouble free. Anyhow, leaving next Sat. am, returning home in a week. If you're out and about, keep your eyes peeled for a bunch of sport bikes with FL. tags Smile
