Bumped the Speed Limiter.

FWIW, on my machine, it's 102 - not 105.

Macintosh, South Dakota...U.S. 12, riding west. Long open stretch.

I'm on a business/pleasure trip and Internet access in motels has been spotty.

Sorry...no pics. No helmet-cam.

But...80 mph now seems so...slow...

Thought it was meant to be 112 mph or 180 kph.

But well done, JPT!

Now you got me puzzled.

I was on an easy upgrade...nothing drastic. But I held it wide-open and it went to 102 relatively quickly, and stayed there.

There was no traffic at that point but...they put you in JAIL for driving like that. So I didn't want to chance a stray Smokey or a bear in the air. So...I didn't hold it for more than a couple of minutes at that speed...

Now...I want to return, try it again. And that's 250 miles past. And I have to be somewhere by tomorrow morning.

I had mine to 108mph once just because. Never hit the limiter.

What were the RPMs at the time? Any chance you were up against the rev limiter and not the speed limiter?

Either 5200 or 5800 rpms...I disremember. Tach needle was at the 12:05 position.

Sixth gear. I had just upshifted from fifth.

I've never hit the limiter but have done 110. Bike starts to feel a bit light at that speed.

Sixth gear. I had just upshifted from fifth. IIRC these bikes are drag limited and can't hit the speed limiter in top gear. On my 2013, I have hit it at the top of third, but 5th would never get me there (at least not without an Area 51 size runway).

Can't tell about the 6th overdrive of the 2014, but concerning the 2013 I'm afraid I have to disagree. My CB easily hits the speed limiter in 5th gear. Speedometer shows 190 km/h btw., GPS is at 180 km/h. Bike still responds very lively at throttle at that speed. in 5th gear just below the limiter.

Have you changed sprocket ratio?
