Fall X-Country Trip ? - bflint - 09-12-2016

I just finished the sport-tour accessorization of my cb100dx and plan to leave San Diego this week on a x-country trip to Detroit MI (I15 to I70 to I80 to I94) and then down to Annapolis MD. Weather forecasts seem acceptable (a few t-storms). Is it too late for a fair weather rider to do this? Feel like I should be able to do this while keeping my 2-wheels on the road ... but thought I'd throw it out to you more experienced riders Smile

No brainer for me. Best time of the year to ride is Sept. What's a little rain? Frogg Toggs baby!

Thanks. Just bought Frogg Toggs pants/jacket at CycleGear. Was thinking I need somthin to cover for my tennis shoes ... or maybe some type of boot, but not sure.

Get some real waterproof riding boots. THey can be had for $100 and will give you impact protection to your shins, ankles and toes and will actually be more comfortable than gym shoes while riding and more sure footed at stops. What you probably won't be able to keep dry is your hands so take back up gloves.

Or get some over gloves. They're clunky but they work.

Then go riding.

Take a tire patch kit along. The inexpensive "sticky rope" type sold by NAPA and others works well and a battery powered pump or CO2 cartridge inflater kit.

Feeling encouraged about this. Think I'll leave Wed. Just bought this iPhone 5s thingy and installed AutoClub app, MP3 Player app, & Tapatalk app (still miss my flip phone). Will take photo of my cb when its loaded ready to go. Happy Trails Smile
