160 miles today - mechanic58_imp - 05-13-2018 Rode 160 miles today, to nowhere in particular. This bike is so easy to ride that you’ve gone 100 miles before you even know it. Left out of Clover this morning and headed north up to Lake Norman and rode all around that area, great ride. RE: 160 miles today - noroomtomove - 05-13-2018 Some rides are best without a predetermined destination. Regards NRTM RE: 160 miles today - the Ferret - 05-13-2018 This bike is perfect for that. Lake Norman is the home of Art Northrup, Jr. builder of a land speed record Sportster. http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/lsr_gallery.htm Planning to take North Shore Road along Lake Mead to Overton/Logandale. It is about 160 miles round trip and one of my few rides where fuel and lunch are mid-way. RE: 160 miles today - 4 Paws_imp - 05-14-2018 Yeah, just getting out riding and enjoying the day is truly a pleasure. RE: 160 miles today - riggies_imp - 05-31-2018 mechanic58 Did you ride on the west side of the lake around Denver and such? Let’s plan a day ride one of these next few weekends. I found a good route to get up to the Boone area that stays off of 321 and keeps us on the two lane twisties. On a totally other note I want to buy a dual sport and ride some of these forest service roads that are littered all over the mountains. Man we live amongst some darn fine riding around here. RE: 160 miles today - mechanic58_imp - 05-31-2018 Yep, sounds like a good plan, pm me. RE: 160 miles today - The A-man - 05-31-2018 Mechanic and riggies, I just realized that we're practically neighbors. I'm on Lake James. Great riding all over here. Contact me if you get up my way. Lots of great roads to get up to the BRP. RE: 160 miles today - SportsterDoc - 06-02-2018 Thu: From Las Vegas along Lake Mead, over Hoover Dam to Kingman, then Route 66 thru Peach Springs to Seligman, continued on Route 66 to I40 exit 139, then south from Ash Fork to Chino Valley and Prescott. Headwinds much of the way. Over Mingus Mountain on 89A through Jerome to Clarkdale. Fri: Took 6 year old granddaughter to Tuzigoot and then 10 year old grandson to Jerome. Great weather Sat (today): From Clarkdale through Sedona, up Oak Creek Canyon on 89A to Flagstaff, then west on I40 to Williams. Visited friends. Continued on I40 to Kingman, then home via highway 93 and Lake Mead. Lubed chain when I got home and wiped off a few bugs. Not many bugs, since it has been so very dry in the southwest. 712.6 miles 53.18 avg MPG (over 60 MPG from Clarkdale to Ash Fork) 13.4 gallons fuel 9,390 miles on the odometer since the bike was uncrated Nov 7. Accompanied by friend on Vrod. Still smiling with this bike! |
