Short local N. Utah ride - Frulk_imp - 04-05-2019

Overcast but with occasional partly cloudy sessions letting some sun through. Decided to go for a short ride to coffee shop. I got on the bike and it was sitting partially in the garage so for whatever reason I'm not sure of I put up the kickstand and pushed it out while sitting on it and placed the phone in the RAM mount. forgetting that the kickstand was up I leaned the bike left expecting the stand to take the weight...it didn't! Herculean effort to keep from dropping it and somewhat tweaked my back (but not too bad it appears). Rode to coffee shop, had a cup of Americano and an almond croissant and on the way back north the rear tire locked up on me while braking at 40mph. Luckily I had plenty of space between me and the car in front. Seems the new brake pads may be a bit more grippy than the old ones they replaced (combined maybe with the brake fluid flush). Will have to get used to that.

Looking south west from the Bonneville shoreline Trail (the original shoreline when pre-historic Lake Bonneville was at it's max depth before the ice dam broke and a catastrophic flood lowered the lake).

A local tale/legend. Supposedly a very successful architect went through a messy and acrimonious divorce. Wife got the house. He was so bitter as the tale goes he built this mansion above the old place so she would have to look at every day. Incredible to look at from the outside but it was for sale about 1.5 years ago and I saw the inside and it was somewhat dated. Huge pool above the house with a guest cottage next to it etc. etc.

Love those side covers Frulk!

Great scenery too. I've been to southern Utah many times but never up by Salt Lake.

I lived there for two years, way back when. I love the Wasatch.

Beautiful photos, Frulk. How do you like your Yoshimura pipe?

RE: Short local N. Utah ride - Frulk_imp - 04-05-2019

Roper. I think I detailed somewhere on the site why I got the pipe. Was just a good deal from a member and an aesthetic experiment at the time. Performance is a wash. The look is growing on me. I kinda like the muted growl the bike now has around town. But, for longer trips I’ll put the baffle in because the engine sound would get tiring at highway speeds. I’ll put it in for the Django section in southern Utah.

Thanks for sharing your Utah Frulk. I was supposed to be there in May, but plans changed. Next year maybe.

Hopefully no long term strain damage to your back. I reckon you didn't pinch a log as you saved the CB from the ground? Smile

RE: Short local N. Utah ride - the Ferret - 04-05-2019

Yea these do get a bit heavy when on a 45 degree angle. BTDT. Hope the back is ok.

Very cool pics as always. Love the scenery there.

Great report and pics, Frulk. Utah looks stunning.

It has nothing to do with your report, but when I clicked on the panorama, this was next on the list on Imgur, https://m.imgur.com/gallery/n82lY0K

RE flick: Rider seemed to recover okay.

Okay Cormanus, what is the history behind the latest avatar? It is a bit small for me to visualize. Looks like some sort of puppet.
