Oregon coast - pdedse - 04-16-2021 Took the day off and decided to do a loop: Gresham to McMinville, then over to the Neskowin on the coast, head north to Pacific City, Tillamook to Cannon Beach on hiway 101, then back east to Portland on 26. ![]() Wilsonville Road hugs the Williamette River and what a lovely road--lots of horse ranches and farms. I saw signs for walnuts and hazlenuts. ![]() Strange housing development surrounded by nothing but trees. Long, tall and narrow homes. I wonder what they look like on the inside. ![]() ![]() ![]() [url=https://www.evergreenmuseum.org/]The Evergreen Air museum Where you can see the Howard Hughs plane ![]() ![]() Heading towards the coast ![]() A number of single lane bridges ![]() ![]() Started at 10am from Gresham and by 1:00 was at the coast. RE: Oregon coast - Cormanus - 04-16-2021 Lovely looking country pdedse. I'm kinda jealous. RE: Oregon coast - pdedse - 04-16-2021 ![]() As you get near the coast, the dairy farms appear ![]() Just north of Neskowin ![]() Heading towards Pacific City ![]() A beautiful day at the beach ![]() ![]() I brought along my new Canon SX740 camara. I mainly bought it for its zoom, and it didn't disappoint. The couple climbing the sand dune, dressed in black, at the bottom: ![]() And now using the zoom...didn't know there was kid between them: ![]() Just to the left of the trees on the ridge, you can barely make out a couple sitting: ![]() And a close-up: ![]() A little blurry, but not bad for hand-held about 500-600 meters away It was turning out to be a fairly warm day at the beach. Surfers doing their thing. ![]() ![]() You forgot the pail: ![]() I'm liking this camara! ![]() ![]() A number of sand dunes where you can dune buggy and ride enduro. ![]() ![]() Traffic was fairly light--just a gorgeous day to be our riding ![]() (04-16-2021, 04:56 PM)Cormanus_imp Wrote: Lovely looking country pdedse. It's amazing that the pleasant looking ocean is the same one that laps at shores near me. A day on the bike would be an agreeable thing at the moment. RE: Oregon coast - Rocky_imp - 04-16-2021 Nice ride and pictures RE: Oregon coast - peterbaron - 04-16-2021 Beautiful pics.. Pdedse, how much for guaranteeing nice and warm weather with the blue sky for So Ontario/CAN ??

RE: Oregon coast - GoldOxide_imp - 04-16-2021 Very nice collection pdedse. Some interesting images. RE: Oregon coast - Jonz_imp - 04-17-2021 Great photos! I'm just starting my move to Astoria from Seattle. Lots of back and forth. By June I'll be more than ready for a ride and company if your coming out again. On the other hand, I heard forest fire cautions were given--and it's April! These usually don't begin until July or August. I hope that isn't foreboding for later this summer and early fall--had enough of the smoke and near evacs last year. More photos...hiway 101 is well named--because there are 101 photo opps. Just north of Pacific City ![]() ...actually, now that I think of it, PC isn't on 101, you have to veer off from 101 to get to PC. I think the above is on Cape Kiwanda Dr or Sandlake--it seems to change names as you travel either direction. ![]() I was about 30-40 meters from these guys who were having fun in the shallows: ![]() Ok, one was having more fun than the other ![]() ![]() I think it was in Netarts that I pulled over to take a look at Lex's Cool Stuff shop. And there were lots of cool knick-knack things. Lexi herself was on the side of her shop and when she saw me she stopped her watering and encouraged me to go inside...I told her I had no room to purchase anything cool today, but she assured me no matter, and insisted I step inside and look around, try her brownies--she makes 6 batches every day for her customers. ![]() Lexi explained that she moved there 18 years ago, has a little cottage right down on the coast, and started her curios shopt on a whim and it has survived by people bringing her cool things and she sells 'em. ![]() She told me a few stories, seemed to want to chat some more, but I was getting hot all bundled up in the mc garb. ![]() Lovely lady...she pressed the wrapped up brownies into my hands and I was off... ![]() (04-17-2021, 01:53 AM)Jonz_imp Wrote: Great photos! Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we do a group ride around Mt. Hood? Sorry, it's been a few years and I can't remember the names. Would be very happy to ride with you, Astoria and area is great. Good luck with the move. |
