Great roads - the Ferret - 08-02-2021

My wife and I have been fortunate to ride many of the great roads in this country. All of the serpent and lizard roads I can think of including this one, Rattlesnake Grade in Oregon and Washington (Ore Rt 3 Wash Rt 129).BTW there is a sign as you start on the road in Oregon that says next gas 177 miles. On a CB you might need a spare fuel cell. We were on the ST with a 7.7 gal gas tank. I looked down and we were on 1/2. I went back to the last town a few miles back and filled up "just in case" lol.

Thought you might like a taste of this one. Not my vid, but a good one. it's only 3:38 long.

I've lived in OR going on 22 years and somehow crisscrossing OR / WA all this time I've managed to miss this route. Not for much longer! Thanks for the tip.

Here's another out west road. This one is my wife's favorite road in the whole country

Beartooth Pass between Cook City and Red Lodge Montana

Now Beartooth I didn't miss and your wife has good judgement!

From my ride through there in 2016...

Nice shares, ferret! Thumbs Up

Does anyone know what road this is in Utah? Don't worry about the cars...the shots of the road are breathtaking!

If I am not mistaken, that is UT-92 between Sundance and Timpanogos Cave, commonly referred to the “Alpine Loop” in the Wasatch Mountains.

Just watched that, what a great road, It is that type of scenery we don't have in Ireland. Typical "Big Country".

RE: Great roads - LakeWylieJoe_imp - 08-05-2021

That's not the Alpine Loop, which is very wooded--I'm very familiar with that one. It's not Monte Cristo (Hwy 39) or the Fairview-Huntington (Hwy 31) route either. I know those like the back of my hand.

It could be the Nebo Loop Rd [015] which was recently resurfaced, or Hwy 35 between Francis and Tabiona. There are a couple of far horizon views that look similar to the east side of Timpanogos, but it's not quite right. It could also be Hwy 191 between Duchesne and Helper.

I'll need to track this one down. I thought I knew every great 2-lane road around here!

Just studying Google Maps, I wondered if it could be UT 65 south of East Canyon Reservoir. My other suspect is UT 150 in the Unita-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.

This shot showing a populated area in the valley could be a clue.
