First day, approach trip: the CB1100 was on a trailer, as both riders are getting old… 6 hours journey from Grenoble to Aubrac high flats, where we rent a small stone house, in the middle of nowhere, on the Aubrac plateau:


Here is a typical view of Aubrac plateau landscape: mainly, meadows with cows, for miles and miles, and a barn every now and then. Strange light on this picture, it was sunset, just a few minutes before night.


Small winding roads, perfect area for motorcycling.


Second day, poor weather on Aubrac heights, with fog and drizzle, but we stick to our schedule and went to the south with the CB1100, and found some rather favorable riding conditions in the Lot valley. First stop at Saint-Côme d’Olt:


The goal of the day was to see “Bozouls hole”, a strange canyon in Aveyron district.

Third day, the longer one… Nice weather, although very cold at dawn (see first pictures in [url=https://img.gg/jOwPNr9]this other album,2021_Fall_rides_2)
Two main goals this day: first, we wanted to climb the old volcano “Puy Mary”, 1787 m height (5863 feet):

Leaving the bike at Peyrols pass, it takes about one hour walk on a large, cemented trail with many steps. In summer this place is full of tourists… End of September, it was beginning to be a nice place!

Second goal was to have a look at a small village where a part of my ancestries have been living (at 19th century)… Up to last year, I didn’t know anything about this place, none of my parents or grand-parents ever told me anything about it. But as I began build-up of my genealogic tree, I found a branch of the tree, coming from this village. I had to go and have a look! Several of my ancestries were baptized and/or married in this church, in Saint-Projet-de-Salers…


Fourth day was for the return back home, but again we had a nice ride across medium height mountains, south of Massif Central, and met these strange rounded rocks, at “Le Truc de Fortunio”, 1552 m height (5092 feet):


All of this is good souvenir...

This house has been completely rebuilt a few years ago. Originally, it had been built in 19th century or maybe before; it was used as a mountain pasture farm, until 1914. Then it had been abandoned, and went to ruin. Only walls were still visible at end of 20th century. Entirely reassembled when renovation, the walls are made of granite and basalt, masonry in dry stone laid with sharp joint. These walls are not isolated, but, made up of two stone sidings, they nevertheless have a good insulation. I remember I had seen on internet some pictures of the ruins, before reconstruction, but now I can't find them anymore. I only found here a [url=http://sarldelort.com/buron-cap-combattut/]picture of the renovation, and a [url=https://www.pressreader.com/france/maison-et-travaux/20180119/284374084779354]press reprint about it - but in french, sorry!
