Imagine a seat ... - j3gq_imp - 04-04-2022

I don't have any qualms with the CB's stock seat, at least not for the maximum range I ride in a day anyway. Nevertheless my legs are long, and I don't like to lower my pegs. So a little relief now and then has to come from elsewhere.
Now imagine a versatile seat ... adjustable, comfortable, very cheap, and ... not permanently installed, but just when you need it.

I did, and I found it. First test ride yesterday with great results. One more sec, before I give it away. Reading beyond this point you accept the general conditions (check-mark), and click OK, okay ? Remain open minded, at least try.

Such a seat costs 25-35$, with many choices,
- has been optimized by hundreds of companies for racing bicycles, and the buttocks of riders,
- fits perfectly onto the Honda seat, without any fitting problems,
- is held in place by your legs, no glue, no screws, no damage,
- can be folded away at a stop at the traffic-light, without getting off,
- is compatible with any top-boxes etc. you may own.

Longish dinner, or stay over night ? take it off in under 20secs, and store it safely in your backpack.

In "working" position

You definitely like to think outside the box j3gq!

I only have a short 29" leg but do find the seat to peg ratio can get at my hips on longer runs. I temporarily sat two 20mm thick pieces of wood between the seat and the frame at the mid and front section while having the rear latch secured. It visually looked OK at the tank join and provided a more comfortable seating position. This was just statically in the garage and needs some extra thought to protection the seat tab at the front. A 3D printer would be handy to try out a front support.

Unique thinking - yes. I would have not ever considered a bicycle saddle pad. Kinda makes some sense in a pinch.

The wood or other material you used will inevitably rub against painted parts of the frame, and - with time and vibrations - slowly destroy the underside of your stock seat too. The gel seat on top, you can find them anywhere from 15 to 35 mm, and the stock seat ... after 20,000 miles will look just like on day one.

My 2007 Beemer riding buddy uses this pads for our long distance trips and is very happy with it.
He uses 12D-160 density for comfort.
Higher density than 160 seems to be too hard for his soft bum..

I find wearing two pair of Depends provides all the comfort I need on long trips.

That is the one disadvantage. I am sure top scientists are working feverishly to solve that problem. Stay tuned.
