Map embeds in posts - Cormanus - 04-23-2025 MrP, mea culpa! While working on this problem, I managed to delete the thread along with a post I made. Would you please be kind and post an embed link for a map again? Could you also tell me how you generated it in Google Maps? RE: Map embeds in posts - Cormanus - 04-23-2025 Actually managed to recover it: <iframe src="https://www.google.com/maps/embed?pb=!1m66!1m12!1m3!1d211048.82013835976!2d-82.40888554198531!3d36.583993953335366!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!4m51!3e0!4m5!1s0x885a8cd4f656a609%3A0x76150a4eaf1789b!2sComfort%20Suites!3m2!1d36.5028199!2d-82.5578031!4m3!3m2!1d36.6304656!2d-82.5469073!4m3!3m2!1d36.63581!2d-82.2593962!4m5!1s0x885071ec9893631b%3A0xef6a27285cdca6f!2sSouth%20Holston%20Lake%20Bridge!3m2!1d36.562107!2d-82.0425262!4m3!3m2!1d36.484382499999995!2d-81.80598619999999!4m5!1s0x885041728cf5f535%3A0xd8658301df3d74d7!2sWicked%20Chicken%20Winghouse%20and%20Tavern!3m2!1d36.6305354!2d-81.78146219999999!4m5!1s0x885040d439b236db%3A0xfb6baa737c653745!2sCitgo!3m2!1d36.631066499999996!2d-81.7830238!4m3!3m2!1d36.3601126!2d-82.2042349!4m3!3m2!1d36.5440715!2d-82.39656169999999!4m5!1s0x885a8cd4f656a609%3A0x76150a4eaf1789b!2sComfort%20Suites!3m2!1d36.5028199!2d-82.5578031!5e0!3m2!1sen!2sus!4v1745407456835!5m2!1sen!2sus" width="800" height="600" style="border:0;" allowfullscreen="" loading="lazy" referrerpolicy="no-referrer-when-downgrade"></iframe> RE: Map embeds in posts - Whoops - 04-23-2025 (04-23-2025, 02:19 PM)Cormanus Wrote: Actually managed to recover it: Does that show embedded for you? To me it's just a bunch of text. Wondering if I am blocking something? RE: Map embeds in posts - Cormanus - 04-23-2025 No. MrP posted that to test the feature, and it is not working. I managed to delete the thread but recovered the code that didn't work. I'm now trying to find a solution that will deal with rdprdp01's concerns about security. It would make more sense if I hadn't deleted the thread! RE: Map embeds in posts - Frenchie - 04-23-2025 To avoid html security concerns, an option would be to simply add a link to the Google Map. Someone would add members' location manually. As an example, here is what it would look like... that's the map from the F6C forum: F6C Members map RE: Map embeds in posts - Cormanus - 04-24-2025 Frenchie, a good option. The old forum had such a map. https://drive.google.com/open?id=13vPfjU-6GMaVY-L7EFyoZEdeTSc&usp=sharing I guess it can be added to from here.
RE: Map embeds in posts - rdprdp01 - 04-24-2025 Gentlemen, it will not be possible to allow for HTML to be used in a post or thread. The MyBB platform has a database of Member information, an email engine to push out notices to private and external email addresses, and a front-end facing the Internet which can all be used to distribute a payload of mayhem and mischief. There are well documented instances where Administrators have lost control of a MyBB site via a HTML post by a bad actor. In some instances, Member information has been put up for sale on the dark web. None of that can or will happen on this Forum. Sometime soon, I will assemble a list of tools that can be used to copy something in HTML and then paste it as plain text into a port or thread. For now, please see the keystrokes you can use native to the Operating Environments must of us use while accessing this Forum: Apple IOS To paste plain text from the iPad clipboard, copy the text as you normally would, then tap and hold on the destination field, tap Paste, and then tap "Paste as Plain Text" if that option appears. If the option isn't available, you may need to paste and then manually remove any unwanted HTML formatting Windows To paste from the Windows clipboard without including any HTML or formatting, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + V. This will paste the text content of the clipboard as plain text, stripping away any original formatting. Some applications also allow pasting from the clipboard history (Win + V) with the "Paste as plain text" option. |
