Chrome Meter Covers Added - Guth_imp - 10-12-2013

I have to chuckle a bit as I post this. If you were to look at my CB1100, you'd probably never guess that it belongs to the person responsible for starting this forum. My CB is bone stock except for the Honda Rear Carrier and the Staintune slip-on exhaust. An admittedly short list of farkles, and the rear carrier might be put away in storage for a while.

This past week I got a wild hair and ordered a set of the Honda Chrome Meter Covers. That's right, call me crazy, but I've added a third accessory to my bike. Big Grin There are plenty of images of these out on the web so I've skipped the pics of them on the bike. Installation was a breeze and even though I'm not really a "chrome guy", I really like the look. It adds just a bit more retro style to the CB.

I really just thought it was fun to take a moment and reflect on just how much others have done to modify their CBs, especially considering that most of this has been done via overseas distributors. Maybe some day we'll start seeing more availability of aftermarket parts here in the States (although I'm not going to go holding my breath until then).

If I really decide to go nuts, I might just order some of those little rubber end covers for the levers (now what were those part #s ?).

Nice read Smile now I don't feel as bad as having a stock CB. When I say stock I mean nothing has been added to mine in two months of ownership and 1300 miles. At least you have somehing added on yours.

Aww c'mon ...we like pictures.

Btw the little rubber lever end covers are retro- cool!

Honda Dealer

Part # 95010-16001. quantity 2. They were $ 2.99 ea at my dealer. Probably a few cents less at yours.

Yea a lot of the early Hondas from 64 up thru the late 70 s had them. I always thought they were a nice touch.

Ferret, I really do dig those rubber lever end covers. Will have to order a set.

Alex, I don't think I've ever seen the color-matched (red) headlight housing before. Very nice!

Guth,

Your two up on me, I'm still bone stock, well maybe a shield and seat but they don't count. Starting to look like the ZRX forum, those guys are mod crazy.

I just installed the chrome meter covers yesterday as well! I dig the look but wish it was a higher quality part, especially for the price...

Now you've gone over the edge Guth!

With winter coming, I highly recommend the heated grips as your next farkle.

No kidding, especially when you consider that there were actually two separate parts involved, one for the speedo and one for the tach. I might just need some farkle counseling.

Interestingly, I just purchased a pair of REV'IT Alaska GTX gloves which might get me through a winter of commuting just fine, even without the heated grips. (My commute is less than 10 miles round trip.) Our winters are typically much more along the lines of cool/damp than cold/snow. Then again, I've never had heated grips so I have no idea on what I'm missing out on.
