cafe racer step 1 - michels_imp - 05-06-2014

after buying a red cb i started customizing. the goal is to have a real, clean, cafe racer end of this year. will get support by one of the best customizers you can find on this planet here in dubai.

how big is the job to clean up everything which is behind the engine ? where to put all this stuff like battery, air filter... any idea ?

thank you

enclosed some pics from step 1

Well, you have the injectors and air box back there. Mess with those at your peril. The air box size is tuned for low end toque as well as good flow for speed (for great all around street riding). If you want to mess with that I'd say ditch the fuel injection and convert to carbs.

thanks for your informative and lovely comments.

i am new to this forum. fulfilled a childhood dream with the cb, 40 years ago i could not afford the cb 750 which was my dream bike at that time. i am living in dubai for nearly 10 years now, riding 2 harleys (black street bob and white street glide) as well. the cb is now my favourite one. riding bikes since 40 years.

summer is approaching here, riding season ends (no one likes to ride at 45 degreees. the only rides we do is on friday mornings, 05:30 am to 08:00 of after 10:00 pm for a bar hop). means time to go on working at the bike for the next 4 months.

enclosed some pictures to show a bit of the atmosphere and the environment we are riding in. mostly harleys, sometimes some guys (and chicks) with cars join us for barbecue. the amount of harleys is immense in this city, the guys are fine. the local harley dealer is in terms of selling no. 2 worldwide after L.A. als suzis hayabusa is very common to ride, a huge group of goldwingers is as well at the start every friday. it might be some of you guys know a bit about the city. the gyus from the american forces in iraq had been / are regularly on short holidays around.

we host every year the "gulf bike week", see the link. great atmosphere, thousands of bikes, bands like deep purple or amy winehuse performed in the last years. for the next one there are rumours ac/dc resp. metallica will do the main gig. let me know if some of you guys are around, check the web for exact timing.

very unique circumstance you are in over there.
What kind of speed limits do you have?
Are there many roads to explore?
Is the picture of those 2 girls a "snap shot" or actual model photos! ?
