Lowering footpegs and bars pics - cosmos_imp - 05-30-2014
I recently did a few mods I haven't seen on here, so I thought I would put up some pics. First off, lower footpegs for more legroom. I've seen posts with the Buell pegs but didn't really like how they looked, the adjustable pegs are nice but very pricey, so I kept looking and found some by knight design. 1 3/8 inches lower, but since they don't have curb feelers(?), I actually gained around an inch of clearance underneath them. The site said to contact them to make sure they fit, but when I did they had no idea but assured me I could send them back no questions. I looked at the pictures, got out the tape measure and tried to guess on the fit. I thought it would be close, especially on the kickstand assist thing, but it turns out they fit with no problems. Very easy, uses the stock pin and spring and moves out of the way just like stock. 4 out of 5 stars, they don't look the best but are functional and appear well made.

next up, some new bars. As a kid in England in the 70's, my older brothers friends all rode cb's and they all had droopy handlebars. It was cool when I was 8, and in my mind it still is. I looked at all the bar threads on here and whats available on the Japanese sites and it wasn't exactly what I wanted or was too expensive. Mr T had a nice set for 400 but I couldn't bring myself to spend that much for handlebars. I found some from Apex manufacturing, adjustable riser bars that I thought would probably work

they are infinitely adjustable but you use up a lot of that range just getting them to fit, but they did fit and here's how different they are from stock

they do change the feel of the bike, but I'm liking it. They have more vibration than stock, but I find the new riding position comfortable. I'm 6'3" and I feel more stretched out, in a good way
feel free to change away. I haven't adjusted the shifter yet, not sure if I'm going to, adjusted the brake as low as I could and it feels good there.

Cosmos - what exhaust do you have on your bike? Looks nice!
I tried the Buell pegs but they were too low for me. Even with brake pedal adjusted to its lowest setting, I had to reach up too much for my liking to use it. That and I was dragging my size 13 boots in corners. (I went with a higher seat and adjustible pegs)
The shift pedal has a ton of adjustability. The connecting rod has bolts with opposite thread directions on either side.
Really like the handlebars too. Definitely the cafe look. Great job on everything!

Love the look of the lower bars and the bar end mirrors. Sure does make the bike look sleeker and 'tougher' at the same time. Kept the favorite photo attached. Well done.

Would you mind puuting a picture of left hand side footpeg in realtion to sidestand, appreciated if you could supply part numbers for the footrests you bought. Cheers

I have the Arrow slip on exhaust. It comes with a removable baffle, which I removed, and I think it's the 2nd best sounding exhaust right behind pipemasters 4 into 4. That whole money thing again. This thread convinced me, and I think it sounds even better in person

I know about the foot dragging, I have size 16 feet! The only time I drag is when shifting and turning left, when just pulling away from a stop, so I just have to keep that in mind. If I'm not shifting or braking I have the balls of my feet on the pegs so no problems.
