On a short ride today, I realized I lost one of the bar end weights. Not a huge deal, but in my efforts to eliminate the little buzz between 3k - 4k rpm, I had taken these on and off, installed grip puppies, but neither actions solved the buzz. Same buzz with the bar end removed, same buzz when they are installed.
I prefer the lower rpm range versus 4k and up, which I reserve for harder acceleration, but for cruising, mid 3k is just fine.
On the way back, I actually found the bar end, but it was dinged up a bit and I probably won't try to reuse it.
Has anybody put heavier bar ends on the CB and solved the buzz issue? If so, what did you use and where did you find it?
I've also installed risers, up 1", back 1", which is the absolute limit I can get with my front brake line, it's pretty short. It's still not quite enough for the relaxed position I was trying for.
This is the second set of risers I've tried too, the first offered more adjustability and rear reach. But the brake line was just too short to get the range I wanted. Not too happy about that, I would probably need to install a longer line and work on obtaining enough slack in the throttle cables.
I did install a Corbin seat too, looks far better then it feels. Probably designed for riders with longer legs, it has uncomfortable ridges that press on my rear thighs. Also forces you into a more rearward butt position if you try to settle into the "bucket" which means I have to hunch forward more then I'd like. So I ride it sitting forward of the bucket and it's just not that comfortable. I'm not a tall rider and my guess is Corbin designed this for riders a few inches taller then I and with a longer inseam.
Not sure if I should have the seat modified by a competent shop or try something else. The stock seat as most know isn't much either, but at least you can move around on it as you see fit, and there aren't any ridges. However, the foam is too hard for me, so I never rode this seat much.
Other then that - still a great bike. I'm a fan of air-cooled and still get a lot of joy riding this machine.

Sorry to hear of problems with buzz at the grips. We all seem to have different levels of tolerance for this; no problem for me with my 2013. There is a recent article in Motorcycle Consumer News showing some new products for dealing with vibration.
Try contacting Sargent Seat in Jacksonville, FL. Using your stock seat pan, they will custom build a seat to your specs. Very high quality workmanship.

Got rid of the buzz on my ZRX1100 by pouring bird shot into the bars.....tilted the bike down and filled them completely then put the barend back on...

Thanks for the offer on the bar end! I've got some Suzuki ends that look like will fit (as it turns out). Most of my spare parts wind up in a drawer, never to be seen again until times like this. If this doesn't work, I'll be in touch!
The shot in the bars might be worth trying too, thanks!

Nightengale, the bar end screws are ALOC screws. So put some blue Loc-Tite on them or you may watch them depart the bars at an inopportune time
ALOC screws have locker on them when new. The manual says always use new ones. In this application, just use the Loc-Tite.

I am using HVMP ( http://www.hvmp.com/Default.asp ) stainless universal bar ends that I had machined down to the same size and shape as the Honda original cast chromed bar ends. The universal mounting solved the factory unequal gap between the grips and bar ends. I do not feel any buzz. I also have grip puppies mounted, but for me, they are more to increase grip diameter to reduce hand cramp. The universal mount has a pretty decent length of rubber that compresses to lock the unit in place, and I suspect all that rubber is adding to isolating/absorbing any buzz. Picture below of original assembly, and my modified HVMP set up.

Which Corbin seat do you have? Is it the gunfighter & lady?

The Suzuki bar ends seemed to mount up just fine. I did use locktite of course, but then we had severe thunderstorms here and gully washing rain, so didn't take the bike out and try them.
I'm guessing it's the gunfighter / lady design (probably), not that familiar with what Corbin calls their seats. Good looking seat, but it's not shaped right for my size. It would probably work better if I could move the handlebars further back (or just replace the handlebars). I've got a 1982 CB750 Custom and the bar reach is just about right for relaxed upward riding. Something like that would be worth trying I think, but I'd definitely have to get a long brake line and also check the throttle cable length.
