new CB400 handlebars - dlhmatt_imp - 09-12-2014

Yesterday I swung through a local shop on my way home from work and found a set of lower bars for 32 bucks. All the handlebars there were non gnarled except these babies and one other that were taller than stock. The ancient sticker on it said cb400 but it's the same profile as ours just a lot shorter. They are drilled for internal wiring, which i would never do, but other than that they are perfect for what i wanted. I will measure them and install tonight.

And they were sitting right in front of me... carry on......

Had to drill out the right side hole to accommodate the larger peg inside the cb1100 accelerator housing. The left side had to get a new hole because the cb400 had it to far in. You have to move the cables and they are to long. I will get shorter cables eventually but having already changed the cables on this bike before they are a huge pain in the butt. Next time i do it the air box won't be going back on......

So now does it feel?

RE: new CB400 handlebars - dlhmatt_imp - 09-13-2014

After last night's 30 mile test ride the vibrations in the bars are intense my hands vibrated for about one beer. I will be getting softer grips soon.
Control feels great. It makes the front end feel lot smaller. That with the seat that i have that has a 30" height it's just what it needed. I'm about 5'11"

What the heck happened to the brake lever?!?!? I don't see any other damage on the right side of the bike, so what gives?

Hmmm, were you able to transfer the vibration dampening devices from each handle on the stock bars to your new ones?
I just changed my bars today to the Honda OEM low ones, seemed to lower then about 1.5".

50mph high side. Notice how the tank doesn't have a badge anymore Wink

Those have been gone since my 600 mile service when i put my bar end mirrors on. Stock bars and clubman bars were ok without them.
