But being flat black would encourage me to pass, I hate flat painted motorcycles.so get a 3k paint job of your choice and still be ahead 2k. This is true for me as well. What can I expect to get for a ten year old CB 1100 with 75,000 miles on it? What can I expect to get for a 3 year old NC 750X with 42,000 miles on it? Not much, I may as well ride the snot out of them and continue to get my money's worth RE: Triumph Thruxton RS Final Edition - Ollie - 03-28-2024 (03-28-2024, 09:31 PM)misterprofessionality_imp Wrote:(03-28-2024, 08:32 PM)m in sc_imp Wrote:(03-28-2024, 01:09 PM)Ollie_imp Wrote:(03-28-2024, 04:53 AM)m in sc_imp Wrote:so get a 3k paint job of your choice and still be ahead 2k.(03-28-2024, 04:46 AM)Ollie_imp Wrote: The same bike not even broken in with 1,300 miles (3 model years older) for $5,000 less sounds hard to pass. I *always* have resale in the back of my mind when I calculate cost. But given your purchase model, if you want a Thruxton to ride buy the low mileage, used one because it'll be functionally the same. Try living with the black maybe it'll grow on you? If not, do like Mike suggested and just have it repainted. RE: Triumph Thruxton RS Final Edition - pdedse - 03-28-2024 It's fun to read all these comments...makes me feel that I'm more normal than I thought I was regarding bike purchases. There's a good deal of sound input regarding the less expensive, black one. But then I go back to Mr. P's original post: (10-28-2023, 02:32 AM)misterprofessionality_imp Wrote: I did it. I thought about it carefully and today I snapped up the deposit on the one and only Thruxton FE that will ship to Charleston. That's right....this dealer is getting exactly ONE. And it's going to be mine... I've never owned a bike this nice and it's fully double the cost of the most expensive motorcycle I've ever bought. Wow! Just....W-O-W!!! Wow! Just....W-O-W!!! THIS ONE is a beaut and takes #1 spot !!! RE: Triumph Thruxton RS Final Edition - misterprofessionality - 03-29-2024 no kidding....that's just a picture too. I posted a video i found (i think back on page 3 or 4 of this thread?) of a live bike actually sitting under the showroom lights and it's 10x more beautiful than the picture. Visually stunning, probably rides even better than it looks. RE: Triumph Thruxton RS Final Edition - the Ferret - 03-29-2024 it IS a beautiful motorcycle! RE: Triumph Thruxton RS Final Edition - Charlie Bravo_imp - 04-05-2024 Very nice bike! When I ETS'ed out the army in 1971, from Ft. Eustis, VA, I drove my car home to CA, but made some stops along the way, one of which was at my army bud's parents house in Owasso, MI. When we were in Thailand together, we would go to the beach resort town of Pattaya and rent Honda 350's. We'd ride 'em like we stole 'em, and those Hondas never missed a beat. At his house, his whole family rode, and he and I rode his brand new 1971 Triumph Bonneville two up on a trip around Lake Superior. It took nine days. Then I drove my car from MI, while he rode the bike, to TX, to visit another bud of ours. We left my car at his sister's house whose husband was in the army and stationed at Ft. Hood. We again rode two-up, me driving, from Ft. Hood down to Corpus Christie to visit another bud, then rode back to Ft. Hood, again me driving. I'm still in touch with my friend, and he's coming to TX to visit me this summer. We'll ride my Honda CB1100 and my Yamaha V-star 1300 around TX. I'm signed up for the DGR here in Orange County. Sadly, the Triumph/Enfield/Guzzi dealer here that has hosted it for the past few years closed in September, and this year's ride will be hosted at a swanky private car storage facility. The other big Triumph dealership near here has pledged to kick in one of the new Speed 400 bikes to the top earner. That would be very cool too, but The Last Edition Thruxton... that would indeed be awesome. |
