RE: Trade a '13 for a '14 EX? How much will it cost? - ride4now_imp - 02-07-2014 SanPete...I'm not done looking or talking. But if I was to do anything with the Honda, it would be for another CB. I really like the architecture of this bike... I just want a better one. Re: RE: Trade a '13 for a '14 EX? Either way you go , the 13 is stil a great ride. On another note, the dealer called back with new numbers but I haven't connected with them yet. And... the wife is ok with the trade... so who knows. But long ago I did the math and the reality is that the price of entry largely on hd bikes is a bit higher. So when you trade you lose less but on the math paid more to get in so its a net zero comparo most of the time. Unless of course you get sucked I to a bunch of hd add ons. This is where the math lends itself more away from hd. In general w all of this said I think when people constantly expound the value held by HDs they are just helping spread a bunch of hoooooeeeyy. I could never live with myself personally if I purchased one. But. Ya never know. Wait. I do know. Never. So for me a grand mire or less and I would rather by another CB and turn it into a naked cafe/street fighter. Just to have one that was completely different and have an artistic expression. Collectively as a group, we still didn't know what might, or might not be headed our way this year as far as the CB1100 was concerned. Something like this? They made it w spoke wheels and a kind of greenish grey color. It screamed retro in a very cool way. The red screams ducati which is normally killer but on this bike I think it take away from the retro look. Odd how a color can do that. Re: RE: Trade a '13 for a '14 EX? The 4 into 2 pipes with actual double wall chromed head pipes, the instrumentation with the gear indicator, the differently patterened seat, then add in the 1" higher bars, the 6 speed trans, the larger capacity fuel tank. I feel your pain! I waited for the possibility of a black model but since the new black model is too black, I'm going to paint a DLX anyway. But, now I'm REALLY glade I waited. Black or not, the new Deluxe is well worth the wait. I can imagine how discouraging it must be to have such a beautiful carrot dangling in front of you after already buying an almost perfect bike that you really like. If I were in your position, the upgrades would be just enough to push me over the top and force me to take the hit and trade into the new model. I can certainly see why you ordered one. It would be interesting to know how many people feel the same way and see how many low mileage 2013's will be for sale! RE: Trade a '13 for a '14 EX? How much will it cost? - ride4now_imp - 02-10-2014 Buffalohead... I'm sure there's going to be a lot of low mileage '13 CB's available...and probably at pretty good prices too. For me the changes are certainly enough to justify paying the extra coin to move up. The problem is, if one wants to call it that, it's still hard to buy something sight unseen. With all due respect to Ferret, I think I'm going to wait until I see one 'in the flesh'... before I make the commitment. It interesting... when you see the '14 in the photos by itself, the juices really start to flow...again. But when you see the '13 and the '14 side by side (or top vs. bottom like in one of the threads...) the '13 looks sportier... while the '14 looks almost frumpy by comparison. But... the upgrades as previously listed, once seen live, will certainly seal the deal. Daytona can't get here fast enough... RE: Trade a '13 for a '14 EX? How much will it cost? - the Ferret - 02-10-2014 Ghiel.. I agree the 13 is a lot sportier, and the 14 dlx is a lot frumpier. I happen to like frumpier I guess. I like the symmetry of the dual exhaust ( my wife agrees it looks like somethings missing with a 4 into 1) I like the "waterfall"" chrome head pipes, over the "dirty snakes" swoopy stainless. I like the color matched side covers, I like the chrome bar ends, I like the polished master cylinder caps... Then there is that whole laundry list of other upgrades I bought my 13 sight unseen and have no fear of buying a 14 DLX sight unseen. RE: Trade a '13 for a '14 EX? I've never liked the look of the '13's headers... both the color and the look of the waterfall. The same thing with the side covers...never liked them either. And I also don't like the look of the bike on the side without the exhaust... something is missing! And the look of the bike from the back.. same thing. But as you, me, and others have previously said... we bought the bike that was available. And it's a GREAT bike... it's just the new one will be even BETTER... frump aside of course!
