I read somewhere that the designer of the ST1300 was a part-time sumo wrestler.

Not much leverage. Bike looks cleaner without it, too.
It's not the toughest lift ever, but it ranks well above anything else I've owned. It's just one more physical aggravation I don't need. The action compresses the disks in one's spine; heavy guys sporting more than my 150 pounds need less upward pull. I have to make up the difference in my lack of poundage with upward force on the handle, leading to back discomfort. Something for lighter owners to keep in mind.

It's the two-legged kickstand that you use instead of the side stand when you want your bike supported and standing straight up, like for servicing.
Here's ferret's CB up on the center stand (although the oil drain pan is parially hiding one of the two legs) from his excellent tutorial on doing the 600 mi. service:

lower the centerstand and bring the bike so its sitting vetical while feeling that both feet of the stand are
touching the ground, and then stand on it with you right foot while pulling up vently with your right hand
and the bike should pop onto the stand with ease.
you have to remember this bike was disigned by people that probably average 5'6" and MAYBE 160 lbs. so they wouldn't design it so it wasn't easy to put up on the stand.
Just trying to keep this unbelievable thread cooking along...heh heh

Lol this thread started because one forum member was having issues putting his bike on the centerstand and had to have a neighbor come over and help him get it up. Funny thing is, I don't think he ever told us if he got it figured out. Hope so. He sure got plenty of advice in this thread lol.
