Maybe I don't understand. I would think lowering the bike would put the side stand closer to the ground, standing the bike more upright. Putting a block of wood under it would make the bike stand up even more straight. Maybe that's what you were going for?

I went up to my local shop today and checked out the 500 Rebel. It indeed has a very low seat height, and is very narrow in the waist. I think it has the same motor as the CB 500X which is a smooth, eagar and willing motor, great on the backroads and adequate on the freeway. She could do worse.

I’m worried about the longevity of that motor, same as the Ducati scrambler. I drove Thai built motors for many years in south east Asia. They don’t have the build quality of the Japanese built engines despite the Honda stamp in the metal.

That motor is stellar, i agree. i had a CBR500R which is the exact same motor and it was a joy, but she's trying to branch out to non-cruiser alternatives, which is where the whole "lowering" discussion came from to start with. we're trying to catalog as many non cruiser alternatives as possible

I picked up a 82 CB750 Custom for a easy project bike last year. It sits very low, I can flat-foot the thing and I am not tall or long legged at all.
I took it out of ride a day or two ago after doing the required tweaks it needed and found it too low for my liking. Reaching the ground is great, but the pulled back bars and high pegs makes me feel too cramped. I'd imagine that a shorter rider would absolutely love this. Find something like that, or a KZ Limited (various displacements) in your area and see if she likes it.
I'm still going to keep my CB1100 of course, and will be marketing the Custom locally, it's just not for me. Comparing the two bikes, REALLY glad I've got the CB1100 in my "stable", still a great bike (and I like fins).
