RE: Spark Plugs - the Ferret - 07-22-2016

well I asked for guidance and explained what the situation was with the special washers, and what I got back was a form email:

Hello,

We are sorry to hear that the item you purchased will not work for your vehicle.

Please complete the ‘Returns and Exchanges’ form on the reverse side of your packing slip and include this with your unused item. If you no longer have this slip, please write down your name, order number, and reason for returning the item(s) on a blank sheet of paper, and include it in your return shipment.

You can ship this to us at the address below, and we will process your return or exchange.

Sixity Returns
4354 Town Center Blvd Ste 114-124
El Dorado Hills, CA 95762

*Please remember that we have 30 Day Return/Exchange period. If your order was placed over 30 days ago, the total return value will reflect a 15% restocking fee and any original shipping costs.

Please use the original packaging whenever possible and secure it sufficiently to avoid damage in transit.

Thank you for your business and your patience while we get this matter resolved for you.

Would probably have to correspond with NGK to get an answer. If they would give you one.

RE: Spark Plugs - kennyw - 07-22-2016

I doubt the re-seller has any knowledge of what they are selling these days.

RE: Spark Plugs - Redbird_imp - 07-22-2016

Well, right now I don't know whether I'll keep them or return them before the 30 days is up. But if I don't get on the stick and send them back soon I'll be keeping them for sure!!

RE: Spark Plugs - the Ferret - 07-22-2016

thing is redbird, from what I read on their site, they will refund minus the original free shipping cost. if they say that's $10 or $12, you'll get credit back of $14. Not sure what they consider the initial free shipping charge to be though.

RE: Spark Plugs - Redbird_imp - 07-22-2016

Thanks ferret, you know, I think I'll just keep them and try them when the time comes. For sure I have spent more on stuff that turned out not to be "right" over the years.

RE: Spark Plugs - kennyw - 07-22-2016

It should not hurt anything to install them. Worst case is they don't seal and you notice a leak.

Thanks ferret been a great help

RE: Spark Plugs - max - 03-27-2018

Here's what happened to my plugs and why i think the special washers were installed.

The oil coolers for the spark plugs have no escape channel for any water that may be around the plugs for some reason, it may lead to corrosion and this may be the reason Honda opted for the stainless crushwashers, the plugs themselves are identical but with the washers underneath the survival rate in case of corrosion is likely better.

These were my sparkplugs that had either been washed or sat in the rain with a cold engine ( when i got the bike ).

So if your bike never gets wet.............
Makes sense?

RE: Spark Plugs - peterbaron - 03-27-2018

Huh
As to the plugs:
Do not tinker with substitute, even if it is for free
OEM ONLY...remember problems with K&N oil filters...

Do not want to be a smart a** at all, but Honda engineers are not stupid...they know why
"....The CB 1100 takes special one off spark plugs designed for this bike. Made by NGK they carry the designation LMAR8A-9S Honda part number 31908-MGC-003 and takes QTY 4. The bodies on these plugs are extremely thin as are the threads which are also extremely long at 26.5 MM or just over an inch. The plugs are expensive at $19.99..."

...and these plugs carry appropriate price for their design and quality!
Would you replace OEM with Champions ...ROFL
I would not ..
