The kawasaki vulcan s was super successful, and thats another modern Ptwin Japanese cruiser.Interesting that you'd mention the V-strom, I was thinking about it, it's a venerable platform that has been around for ages and it can be picked up used for a bag of peanuts. I don't think the latest model brought anything really new and revolutionary, so hardly worth the money. Makes me think about all the applications of that engine though, and I think it was a really good match for a naked chassis, whether in the SV1000 or this freak of nature (pics attached) I've had a chance to ride for a while, just before the pandemic and it was a blast. Ample torque, really good handling, and feels so very very light on its feet. The fact that you can ride for months before you see someone else on the same bike is an added bonus. lol - would love to get any working bike for a bag of peanuts, even something with a Strom lump would be fair trade. Possible CB1100X coming ... - tod.branko_imp - 12-10-2020 Of course it would have to be a really big bag of peanuts lol but in all seriousness, that bike holds no value on our local used motorcycle market, a friend of mine picked this one up recently for a smidgen above 2000$. 2009 with 25000miles fully kitted for touring ![]() '14 CB1100 STD 5 speed RE: Possible CB1100X coming ... - GoldOxide_imp - 12-10-2020 Ugly, but a reliable workhorse indeed. The coldest ride I ever did was on a wee Strom 650. Air was -25C (-13F) and brilliant sunshine. The roads were ultra white from salt. Freeway cruising was 120 km/h for an adjusted wind chill of -48C (-54F). Cages were going below 60 mph because most of them didn't properly defrost their windshield. (yikes) This meant they could barely see out the front window (and side windows). Nevertheless, I could see them. I didn't have any heated gear on, but I layered up. It helped for awhile. The heated grips worked, but they basically baked the palm of my hands. The finger tips still froze. I was happy to get off the freeway because by that time my eyeballs started to freeze. It was a queasy feelin'. The wee Strom? It didn't complain at all. RE: Possible CB1100X coming ... - VLJ_imp - 12-10-2020 You are not normal. RE: Possible CB1100X coming ... - rboe - 12-10-2020 On two occasions I had the heated gear turned up AND the heated grips dialed up. It was very odd being hot hot and icy cold - all at the same time. Icy Hot. RE: Possible CB1100X coming ... - GoldOxide_imp - 12-10-2020 (12-10-2020, 08:25 AM)VLJ_imp Wrote: You are not normal. Thank you Veal. That means a lot. Apparently Honda Corporate anticipates success and is manufacturing many. Orders are already on the books. The Honda "NT1100" proposed name feels more appropriate than the hypothetical "CB1100X". |
