RE: TALK ME OUT OF IT! - jedd_imp - 02-20-2016 JPT... Did you get the Wee adv version? what will be (if any) some of your blings to put on your vstrom? Got any Wee pics to post up? I found the stock, non-adjustable windshield was just right; and as for cases...I had hard cases with a BMW years ago. Hardly ever used them. For the occasional trip, soft saddlebags are a better choice. That left only the engine guard as anything to want. Eventually I'll get one. Still shopping for the RLETs. For some reason the Suzi dealer doesn't have them in his parts book...I'll have to get something to fit... RE: TALK ME OUT OF IT! - the Ferret - 02-20-2016 Hmm he should have them some of the 70's Suzuki's like the GT 380s, 550s, and 750s used them I believe TALK ME OUT OF IT! - Cormanus - 02-20-2016 Lots of bikes used them in the 60s and 70s didn't they? Or am I misremembering? RE: TALK ME OUT OF IT! - redbirds_imp - 02-20-2016 (02-20-2016, 05:05 AM)JustPassinThru_imp Wrote:(02-20-2016, 01:43 AM)jedd_imp Wrote: JPT... Not yet. I passed on the ADV. Just 4 small bolts to remove to change height. Just get some Suzuki hand guards and you won't even see those pesky RLET's. The V-strom has a completely different chassis and suspension. The difference between the two are greater than say the FZ09 and FJ09. Those bikes are basically separated by the rear subframe, bodywork, and different suspension settings (same amount of travel, though). Can't ignore the addition of ABS, too. RE: TALK ME OUT OF IT! - the Ferret - 02-21-2016 I guess I should have made it sound that simple, but basic motor, transmission, etc are all the same I meant. ive ridden my nephews Gladius and found it quite an engaging bike. i've also ridden his brother's NC700 and liked it as well. Both possibles for a future bike. Also ridden a buddy's lowered Versys, and an FZ07 and an FZ 09 and an FJ 09. I like riding them all lol RE: TALK ME OUT OF IT! - the_undecider_imp - 02-21-2016 (02-21-2016, 10:48 AM)The ferret_imp Wrote: I guess I should have made it sound that simple, but basic motor, transmission, etc are all the same I meant. ive ridden my nephews Gladius and found it quite an engaging bike. i've also ridden his brother's NC700 and liked it as well. I like riding them all lol Gotcha, yep, the first gen V-strom and 2nd gen SV shared the same basic engine other than cams, EFI tuning, etc. The 2nd gen V-strom shares the Gladius engine architecture. A number of internals are interchangeable. A popular mod for the 2012+ V-strom is to swap in the 2nd gen (2003-2008) SV cams for more power. They're all "kissin' cousins." |
