I had a similar experience on my first electric ride. When I first came to a stop, I heard the chirp of a small bird in the distance. It was weird. I may have heard an ant drop a crumb
The only objectionable thing I found during that ride was a bit of a dead-band feeling when reapplying throttle after releasing to decelerate. I think the professionals have tuned their throttle response to mimic acceleration control rather than speed control which is what my controller is set up for. Not sure. After a couple rides I quit noticing the deadband. I haven't noticed the gyroscopic effect that MrP observed, but I haven't tried the Zero either.Looking again at the Verge, I notice they retained the left hand lever, usually gone on an electric motorcycle. They must be using it for the rear brake, since I don't see a foot brake. Surprisingly, Zero filed a patent application last year to use a left hand lever to mimic a traditional clutch.

My post may result in a harsh critique from Forum Members. It has happened before, and I am sure it will happen again.
For what it is worth, I am a lifelong “traditional” road racer / bicyclist. I started riding road bikes at the same time I began riding motorcycles.
I have ridden more miles on a bicycle than driven on a motorcycle. I have spent more money on my road bikes than my motorcycles. I love both devices.
I can still maintain good form on a bicycle while riding a 3,000 meter ascent or spin for 250 KM on the flats. I am not a great cyclists—just good. In the last 45 years, I have experienced firsthand the technology waves in cycling and motorcycling.
I assert that “ebikes” are more “motorcycle” than “bicycle.” I assert bicycle manufacturers have done a far superior job catering to youth than motorcycle manufacturers. One of my heroes agrees:

Electric bikes do have some things going for them.... no valve inspections/adjustments, no air filters, no spark plugs, no oil filters, no oil, generally they are belt driven reducing maintenance on that end. You never have to buy gas again. They are quiet and produce very few emissions, most of those related to tire wear. Great for in city commuting. Easy to keep clean.
They also have drawbacks...initial buy in cost is astronomical compared to an equivalent ice bike, short range, long charging times. You can't get too far from a charger. Usually they are not particularly attractive, because batteries are not as attractive as motors. Sparse dealer networks and mechanics aren't familiar with them if there are issues.
