A lot of leather jackets have armor or at least pockets for them. Fox Creek, Vanson, Roland Sands Design, Schott and Joe Rocket all have leather jackets that either come with armor or have pockets for armor.

My leather Harley Davidson Jacket is set up for armor. Had to buy it separately though.

I guess I don't need full leather, then. The way I get through a bit colder temperatures is to insert my liner and wear a long sleeve shirt and a windbreaker over that. When it is too cold for that I break out my winter coat, which is some sort of synthetic that is wind proof. As it gets successively colder I then go to long sleeves and the windbreaker under it.
