No. I have the correct documentation and in fact I've already been in contact with the DVLA (our vehicle licensing people) and okayed the circumstances.
I have to register it when I return to England, state that it's "not on the road", make it roadworthy and then have it examined. Then pay road tax and ride/convert it. That's it!

That sounds more user friendly than would happen here or in the US—if I recall a recent discussion on the forum correctly.
Will insurance be a problem, or will insurance companies take a similar view?

In the USA it’s pretty simple process as well. You repair damaged parts make an appointment for it to be inspected and after you receive your new rebuilt title you simply insure/register. Only one exception is when you have certificate of destruction title issued by insurance company those are not rebuildable.

No, no problem. All they want to know is that "their" insured is kept safely (it is, in a friend's garage) and is "as declared" at time of insurance. That I'm not riding it yet is a bonus for them! We used to have a category of insurance "laid-up, fire and theft" which would suit me, but they seem to not offer that now.

It seems insurance companies continuously harvest their accounting "spreadsheets" to tweak and milk use cases that maximizes their returns, reduces their risk exposure and even if that means costing us more, or limiting our choice of options. Quite the money machine.

Exactly... I'm not a fan of insurance companies. To be fair, they are there to make money, but excess profit is an anathema.
