Red I checked my build date...1/13 so I'd guess that all of the cb1100's in the states have build dates after 12/12 so what are you going to do about the new law?

In what thread was the new law mentioned I can't find it?

But if the Sturgis Vendor is South Dakota is able to send it to me...then I'm bolting that sweet baby on. If they can't ship it to CA because of the new law..... I'll probably just cry myself to sleep for a few nights.

redReno, I can almost guarantee the Sturgis vendor won't have the slightest clue about that CA law. Such laws are alien to us folks up here on the High Plains. Hopefully EPA and CARB won't have Aftermarket Exhaust Agents waiting at the CA border waiting to swoop in to intercept it. Big Grin

The issue will be when you get pulled over and they don't let you ride off because of an illegal exhaust modification.

Is that what they do? I thought they just issued a ticket? As I understand it, they still can't pull you over using just loud exhaust as the primary offence, but can ticket it as a secondary offense if you get pulled over for some other traffic violation. A Staintune isn't nearly loud enough that, so long as you weren't screaming through the gears, I can't imagine a cop even noticing it in CA traffic. And it sure doesn't look aftermarket. Heck, 99.99% of the cops will think you're on an old bike, manufactured no sooner than Jan. 1, 1983!

Myself, I'd chance it. And smile every time I quietly burbled by a cop...

Thank God we don't have such a blanket, arbitrary law like that where I live.

I know with cars they CAN hold it and have it towed but a lot of the time tbey don't. Just be aware of it.
I'm in no way telling you not to install the can, just to be aware.

I don't think having it shipped to CA would really be a problem since its is labeled as a part for a CB1100 without a specified year on Staintune's website but maybe I don't know. I definitely can't wait to hear the sound in person.

Just ordered one from the BMW dealer in Sturgis. $899 delivered. 3 to 6 week wait. I love Staintune products.

It's been two weeks for me, I am so pumped for it. What other products have you had from them?

RE: Staintune Exhaust - darmahman_imp - 05-22-2013

I have bought 5 or 6 systems from them for various BMW airheads. The fit is always perfect and the finish is equally so.
