FYI that was taken with a Nikon D610...24.3 mp DSLR.

RE: Good Memories - Cormanus - 04-12-2021

So, to return to the earlier theme of the thread, I downloaded j3gq's large image and resized it to an image 800 x 577 pixels to see what would happen when I uploaded it to the forum. It's lost a fair bit of resolution, but it is not so large on the screen.

Likewise, I took Randy B's photo (taken apparently with a Nikon D610) and reduced it to 800 pixels across. It seems to fit OK too.

It seems to me there are two challenges for those who don't want to use a photo hosting service: to reduce the file size to less than 250 kb; and to reduce the dimensions of the image in the file to something in the order of 800 pixels or less in width. In this case, reducing Randy B's 6016 x 4016 pixel image to 800 x 534 pixels also reduced the file size to 66 kb.

What program are you using to reduce the image size? Every time I do I either end up with a very small image, or a file that is too large to upload.

Apple's native Preview on a Mac. Not at all sophisticated.

I wonder whether you could also do it easily with the image reducer power tool on a PC?

I generally use paint to resize things easily. Didn't know about this tool.

Jan, 2015 :
My first day pic - riding my 14 dlx home from a fly and ride purchase.

Day 3, spent a few days here researching this University for my son to attend. 2 years later, he got accepted to go here.

Day 7, enroute home pic. That duffle bag contained about 2 cases of wine, spirits, souvenir & gifts purchased along the way.
