I bought her in July, a few days before my wife asked (gently, with a smile) "why ?". I said, because "I'd like to own such a marvel". She said, "don't you wonna ride her, go places, fool around ?" I said, "yes, sure, but that's secondary, I would like to be the owner". "So you will keep her till the end?", she asked. And I said, "as long as I can afford her and there is enough parking space". We have a big garage, no more mortgage. And no garage sale planned.

Further developments: The wife and I plan to move to TX as soon as possible, which will probably be at least six months to a year away. Will take that long to sift thru all the wife's belongings that fill up every room and closet and garage of this too-big house. Anyhoo, I've been pondering the bike situation. Take them both, take only one? I was thinking only one for a while, then I saw a listing for a Triumph Tiger 800,(dang that craigslist!) a do-it-all mount that would work well in TX. 95hp/58lb.ft. Gonna see if I can get a local test ride.

That's good advice. Maybe I'll take just the Honda. I called on that Triumph, it was already gone, and I haven't seen another like it, with the molded hard bags. Not crazy about those ammo boxes Triumph uses.

When I purchased my ‘13 (in 2015) I thought it would be my “final” bike. Times don’t change, people do. I decided an in-line 4 just wasn’t for me any more and the 5 speed transmission always left me looking for more.
Still have a couple of other bikes but the next one, used, won’t be similar - will go for something different.
Honda builds excellent quality motorcycles. No regrets. The CB1100 will be running solid long after the the dust settles.

Sadly, agreed. I have moved on two Hondas since the CB1100. The CB1100 is very special, never forgotten. Nonetheless, the CB1100 was supposed to be the final bike. So it seems that statement is highly unreliable.
