RE: What octane fuel you using? - Ack-CB11_imp - 07-29-2013 I've been using Startron since new. I missed a tank and noticed it riding, we have really poor gas out here though. RE: What octane fuel you using? - the Ferret - 07-29-2013 Art my manual says to use an octane rating of 86 or higher. RE: What octane fuel you using? - ron1100_imp - 07-29-2013 Ditto on 86 or higher octane. All I use is 86. RE: What octane fuel you using? - the Ferret - 07-29-2013 With regard to ethanol gas additives I personally don't use anything for ethanol, but I do use Seafoam 2 oz/gallon for winter storage, and every once in awhile stick one ounce per gallon in a tank during summer to keep my injectors clean. RE: What octane fuel you using? - SUPERCRUZ_imp - 07-30-2013 Another user of Startron to stabilize the gas for long storage and control water build up in the tank. 1/2 ounce at each fill up. I also plan to use some BG44K every few thousand miles to control carbon deposits on the intake valves. I have used this stuff in all my cars for years. The 2010 CB1100 manual (PDF download link posted in another thread) says 91 octane or higher. The 2013 manual that came with my bike says 86 octane or higher. I wonder why they changed it. I've only been using 91, but now I'll probably go down to 86. RE: What octane fuel you using? - Jim21680_imp - 07-30-2013 I think it's because the bikes weren't being sold in the US yet. Other countries have different methods of rating octane, so 91 elsewhere might be 86's equivalent here in the States. This was previously discussed in one of these ridiculous gas/octane threads (maybe even this one)!
