RE: Top Speed, 125MPH? - Haggard Rider_imp - 06-04-2021 Having just passed the 1000 mile mark, so feeling a little less guilty about 'pouring some sauce', I did a quick twist of the wrist on a motorway and got to 107mph indicated pretty quickly albeit briefly (if you get caught doing 100mph or more over here, a Court appearance is inevitable. For speeds in excess of 100 mph (or more than 30 miles above the relevant limit) the punishment starts at disqualification as opposed to penalty points. So it'll likely be a 56 day ban/6 points on your licence [12 = disqualification], a fine of 150% of your weekly wage and a loooong time of hiked insurance costs!). Quite a stiff breeze at that speed mind, an indicated 80 is much more pleasant. 60 better still. Yeah, I don't get any riding soul at stratospheric speeds, and I don't believe many riders do. Some will get their "fix" at 180 km/h (112 mph) - yes for sure - and many super sport squids push their inline-4s between freeway interchanges in excess of 300 km/h. Small stretches of asphalt at midnight, but nonetheless a hazard to all other vehicles. RE: Top Speed, 125MPH? - the Ferret - 06-04-2021 In my state Reckless Operation starts at 20 mph over if the LEO decides to write that and the State Highway Patrol start tagging you at 9 mph over. Local guys will let you go 5 over with no hassle. To me it's just not worth it to press my luck too much. The fines, the points and the jack up of insurance. There are some spots where you can shoot it up a bit pretty safely, but not 100% guaranteed that some jurisdiction of LEO's aren't hiding shooting laser. On yesterdays ride, big long straightaway and the oncoming pickup flashes his headlights at me. Sure enough a local jurisdiction leo was sitting up ahead making sure people were behaving. I was. Fairy snuff. RE: Top Speed, 125MPH? - E11even_Hunnit - 06-05-2021 If Guhl's flashed, this bike can do upwards of 130MPH as top speed, maybe more with sprockets. Is is safe and is is stable? Probably not on both accounts. Don't ask me how I know RE: Top Speed, 125MPH? - GoldOxide_imp - 06-05-2021 (06-05-2021, 04:32 AM)E11even_Hunnit_imp Wrote: If Guhl's flashed, this bike can do upwards of 130MPH as top speed, maybe more with sprockets.
