DBM that argument reminds me of the arguments against anti-lock brakes. "If your skills are dialed, and you don't make any braking mistakes like grabbing a handful, then why would you need anti-lock brakes?"
The truth is that many riders are't dialed in, and street conditions vary far more than track conditions. If a slipper clutch can prevent engine braking from affecting the suspension and the grip of the rear tire under variable conditions of rider skill, road surface, lean angle, speed, etc. then that's a good not a bad thing.

Interesting response, Stichill. I had the same reaction. It also assumes that the most skilled of riders never makes a mistake or finds themselves in totally unexpected circumstances. I don't buy that view.
Speaking personally as one who does not rank amongst the most skilled of riders, I'll take all the help I can get from improving technology.

slipper clutches, fuel injection, ABS, quick shifters ... I'll take all the technology I can get. Sure it's not essential but just like a TV remote control, you don't need it but who gets off the couch to change the TV channel anymore!

After receiving the 2017 service manual, I have finally figured out why the 2017 slipper clutch will not fit in the 2014.
As you can see by the pictures, there is a difference in the mainshaft.
The spline for the clutch center is shorter on the 2017 model.
Oh well. I tried.

somebody that grow up in a curvy mountain place with sometimes narrow steep curves..who doe drive there eventual sometimes too some (extra) sporty ....well yes this person learns to use hard/often ""the engine brake"""......(or only the strangers from flatcountrys get here stinking smoking smoldering brakes by cars/trucks...LOL)
and he see and notice the different from a slipclutch...his advantages....the brake-drive dynamics is much better in a curve,too (its like a drag anchor you have the frontweehl free for steering- no push in the front) ...or just the main effect in front of the curve from a slipclutch: in principle Keep grip without (short sideway) slipping...we remember us , it comes from the motor race
and, where is much torque is of the other side also fine engine brake
somebody that drives most only comfortable/cruising in flat curveless country observe maybe only somehow a """smoother""" down switching

Sorry to hear...check and diagnose first before digging, always..unfortunately it was learnt the hard way.
As predicted in post 33: " *** Smell trick from Honda, however I might be wrong"
Spent too much time in automotive business to see tricky/hidden/alluring changes. Manufactures protect themselves.

Sorry to hear that it is not plug and play.
Silly question- have you considered shimming?
I would probably break out the calipers, measure the difference and visit the local hardware store. Worth a couple bucks in washers for a test fit.
If it seems ok- maybe a few more #20 will do the deal with official Honda parts.

Not a bad idea, however I gave up on the project and reinstalled the original clutch parts.
Maybe I will try again at a later time.
