Jt, if it is out of phase, someone was having a bad day. It has an alignment mark on the weight and crankcase for proper installation. This can be seen in the service manual. Plus some other assembly details for putting the parts on the shaft, etc.

I know, but mistakes happen!

I've seen a Lancia with this problem after a belt change. There are clear timing marks, but sometimes not everyone understands them properly.

Unlikely, but may happen. Worth checking!

Ok I adjusted the balance shaft backlash today, very easy to do - even with the toolkit that comes with the bike! Sadly it was spot on already so that, as correctly stated earlier, can be ruled out on mine!

update- fitted the HVMP bar ends, it still vibrates like crazy. The HVMP bar-ends seem nice though, and they're heavy enough that I think they'd be the business on a 'normal' bike...

Bike's on it's way back to the dealers tomorrow, will let you know what they say.

Well... The dealer, perhaps unsurprisingly, says 'they all do that sir....'

I'm not too enthusiastic about getting into a hot debate with them but I guess I'll have to see what can be done.

Maybe I'm just trying to ride it faster than others on the forum, I'd have thought cruising at 90mph would be no problem on an 1100 straight 4.

I'd just like to move on from this now so if any members are interested in a basically brand new CB1100EX at a very very extremely decent price then PM me. I'll post some pics. and put an ad up in the classifieds.

Thanks for all your help guys.

Too bad the bike doesn't suit you. I'm sure you won't have any trouble selling it.

FYI according to forum rules you need 25 posts in order to post something in the classifieds

Thanks for the info

I'm sure I could waffle on for an extra 10 posts if required

maybe I should start an oil thread?

Lord Popgun’s advice is to head to the New Members section and welcome lots of new friends.
