RE: Speeding tickets - Cormanus - 06-19-2023 I’m not sure it’s ‘leveling the playing field’, Au₂O₃; more a form of progressive taxation in which you can elect to participate. In Australia there is very limited tolerance for speeding. 10 kph over and you’d cop a fine. The further you are over the speed limit, the bigger the fine, although not related to your income! Punishing a driver with a $150 fine who is racing a 2023 Lamborghini versus another hot roddin' down the road on a 2013 CB1100 deliver different perspective messages to each. Not saying it is right, but delivering a so called $15000 fine to the Lamb has the desired impact that is possibly similar to the CB example. Tail of the dragon is different. It has a pretty bad safety record and they have really stepped up enforcement efforts to try to put a lid on it. Got it
RE: Speeding tickets - Nachodaddy - 06-20-2023 One of my pet-peeves here is that the police seem to have no interest whatsoever in issuing speeding tickets. If you are only doing 20mph over the speed limit, there will be some idiot sitting on your back bumper flashing his lights at you to get out of his way even if you are in the right lane. I actually had a delivery truck do that and he got off at the next exit. Big pick-up trucks are especially bad about tailgating motorcycles. I'd wear a side-arm, but I hate going to court and getting a lawyer every time I shoot someone. That, and I am usually out-gunned around here anyway. |
