Group rides - rotor - 06-28-2015
Just say NO!
Riding in a formation in a group of more than two or three is asking for trouble. I simply don't understand why would a person of sound mind ever want to do such a stupid stunt. Note that this is practiced only in USA and Australia. Everywhere else participants in a group ride of as little as ten or so would be pulled over and ticketed.

When I ride with a small group of friends we almost never exceed 4 bikes total....but when I have the option I prefer the formation of one

As a member of the VJMC, most of my bikes are 40 plus years old so the brakes and tyres are not up to scratch compared to modern bikes. On a run I just sit on a speed that is comfortable for me and the bike and usually I am only a minute or two behind everyone when they stop for a break. Plus the old girls need a bit of tender riding if they are to last another 40 years or so. Recently rode the titan from Brisbane to Canberra and it was an enjoyable ride

Went down thru Kyogle, Casino, Grafton, Nymboida to Armidale. From there to Uralla and down Thunderbolt way to Gloucester. From there to Dungog and around Maitland to Putty road. Around the back of Sydney to Picton then picked up the Hume to Goulburn and then on to Canberra. Funny thing was went I got home I found an overdue rego payment for the T500...so I had ridden all the way with no rego.
Unfortunately the old girl blew a crank seal at Singleton and had to be shipped home. Found out that the previous repairer that replaced the seals had broached the left crank pin when he pressed it in. Also found an imminent failure of the left gudgeon pin due to a bad bearing. It is currently all being repaired by a very good crank man here in Brisbane and should be back on the road in a couple of weeks. Still waiting from Honda as to the date of repair on the CB1100.

I've done that ride through Kyogle etc a couple of times. Lovely trip, although the bits up on the New England Highway must have been a bit chilly. Interesting, I had a similar experience with my rego—got the bill, put it aside to pay and then promptly forgot all about it. Realised a month or so later (I think I may just have got back from a trip) that I hadn't renewed it and had been riding it unregistered. I wonder if it's more likely to happen no we no longer need to have rego stickers aboard.
Sorry to hear about the blown seal, but it's not as hideous as being knocked off!
Hope the CB1100 is soon back on the road.

It's within the law I guess. I have a friend who has a large caravan. He and his group often travel together. Would they be ticketed in Canada?
